Some of what you'll be doing: As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will perform mechanical maintenance on baggage handling systems (conveyance), overhead doors, security gates and passenger loading bridges. + You will work with crew that is responsible for proper and timely completion of both corrective and preventive maintenance and answering trouble calls. + You will perform other mechanical and metal work as required, including welding, burning, grinding, turning, cutting, threading, drilling, and shaping parts using both stationary and portable power and hand tools. Who you are: + Experienced u2013 You have five (5) years of experience performing both preventive and corrective maintenance at the journey person level on airport baggage handling systems (conveyors) or a manufacturing or production mechanical equipment environment. + Desired u2013 We hope you have structural welding certification; and a knowledge of and experience working with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and with MS software. + Committed to Equity u2013 You will apply equity and exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices in all aspects of the work. What else you need to know: + Work Schedule u2013 This is a seven day a week and twenty-four hour a day facility. Normal work schedule will vary. You may be required to work all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You may be required to work during emergencies. + Work Environment u2013 You will generally work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. You may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, work at heights and/or in confined spaces. + Washington State Residency Requirement u2013 Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State. + Overtime Eligible u2013 You are eligible for overtime pay in this role. + Safety Requirements u2013 You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements. + Security Requirements u2013 As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire. + Union Representation u2013 This position is represented by Operating Engineers union, Local 302. + Benefits/Pay u2013 $62.88/hour NO WABO or $65.23/hour with WABO, Swing 10%, Graveyard 15%,Annual License 100% Reimbursement, 1.5x OT for 11th hour worked, 2.0x DT for 12th hour worked, 2.0x DT over 55 hours/week worked,13 Paid Holidays (11 designated,2 personal), 2.0x time worked on holidays, Vacation 80 hours/year first 3 years,120 hours for years 3-10, 160 hours for years 11-15, 200 hours for years over 15, minimum 80 hours/yr Sick leave, 50 hours/yr LWOP allowed, paid Jury Duty, paid Bereavement 30-50 hours per occurrence,100% paid Medical, 16.5% gross compensation employer paid to Pension, $170/yr Safety Shoe Stipend, Training opportunities available.
