Medica is seeking to hire an Associate General Counsel IIIto join our Legal Department and support our Provider Networkcontracting team. Our General Counsel provides legal advice and serviceson issues concerning the rights, obligations, and privileges of theorganization. This role will protect the organization's rights incontract negotiations, settlements and dispute resolution, and provide afull range of legal advice and services and may specialize in one ofmore areas of law: insurance, health, government programs, commercial,contracts, benefit, anti-trust investigations, tax law, regulatory andcompliance. Performs other duties as assigned. Key AccountabilitiesDraft provider contract templates, amendments, including value-basedpayment provisions Be the first point of contact for Network contractmanagers with provider contract template questions and requests forassistance with counterproposal language Negotiate directly withprovider legal counsel Give legal support for provider quality of careand FWA investigations and regulatory complaint responses involvingproviders Advise and engage in dispute resolution on claims paymentissues with providers Research State/Federal laws, regulations, andsub-regulatory guidance Required Qualifications J.D. degree from anABA-accredited law school and a current license to practice law in atleast one United States jurisdiction 5+ years of work experience beyonddegree Required Certifications/Licensure J.D. degree from anABA-accredited law school and a current license to practice law in atleast one United States jurisdiction Preferred Qualifications Experiencewithin the healthcare, health insurance or insurance industry.Experience from heavily regulated industries such as banking, financialservices, etc. will also be considered. Knowledge of ERISA and HIPAApreferred Experience building and maintaining a rapport with internalclients and external business partners Contract and negotiationexperience preferred Skills and Abilities Strong Project Managementskills - able to organize, document, manage and improve complexdepartment processes, workflows, and shared resources Excellent...
