Description We are looking for a skilled Civil Defense Attorney to join our team in Walnut Creek, California. This role offers an exciting opportunity to handle high-stakes litigation cases, focusing on defending trucking companies in accident-related claims. The ideal candidate will actively participate in all aspects of litigation, including pre-suit investigations, depositions, motion practice, hearings, and trials, representing a diverse range of clients, including Fortune 100 companies and top-rated insurers. Responsibilities: u2022 Represent clients in complex civil litigation cases, with a focus on defending trucking companies in accident claims. u2022 Conduct thorough pre-suit investigations to develop case strategies and gather critical evidence. u2022 Manage all stages of litigation, including drafting and filing motions, pleadings, and other legal documents. u2022 Take and defend depositions, ensuring thorough preparation and effective questioning. u2022 Prepare for and participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials. u2022 Collaborate with clients to provide legal advice, updates, and strategic recommendations. u2022 Work closely with expert witnesses and other professionals to build strong defense cases. u2022 Oversee the management of case files, ensuring timely and accurate documentation. u2022 Stay updated on legal trends, regulations, and precedents relevant to civil defense and insurance litigation. u2022 Maintain strict compliance with ethical standards and bar admission requirements. Requirements u2022 Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. u2022 Active membership in the state bar where the position is located. u2022 At least 2 years of experience in civil litigation, preferably in insurance defense or related fields. u2022 Proficiency with legal software tools, including case management and document management systems. u2022 Strong skills in drafting motions, pleadings, and other legal documents. u2022 Demonstrated ability to handle depositions, hearings, and trial preparation. u2022 Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills. u2022 Familiarity with relevant legal regulations and procedures in civil defense litigation.
