Description American Express - Global Commercial Services - Shared Services Engineering Team: Commercial Data Exchange Role: Backend Software Engineer Group: In Global Commercial Services Technology (GCST), we develop software products and platforms across Small Business, Mid and Large Market and Global Commercial Clients. Our goals center around furthering the company's priorities of building on our strong position in commercial payments, whilst making American Express an essential part of our B2B customersu2019 digital lives. We continuously strive to optimize the level of innovation, quality, and speed with which we deliver across many products and channels including Sales, Client and Individual Customer Acquisition, Digital Servicing, Commercial Lending, B2B Payment Products, Remittance Processing and Commercial Data. Together with multiple Product and Engineering teams outside of GCST, we work collectively to deliver enterprise capabilities to our B2B customers. As a part of our tech team, we could work together to bringground-breakingand diverse ideas to life that power the digital systems, services, products and platforms that millions of customers around the world depend on. Team/ Project: The CDX team is ramping up to support a variety of new workloads such as a focus on re-writing current applications to Kotlin to better integrate across other Amex systems, as well as new feature builds including a commercial data exchange focused project supporting Real Time Authorizations (RTA) aimed at helping businesses make better business decisions with their data - particularly enabling 3rd party data integrations from card authorization data to external customers. Day to day work will build off their microservice based foundational platform, building integrations with Kafka, building APIs to facilitate backend services, and expose APIs for the collection of certain data constructs such as authorizations. What you'll be doing: u2022 Play a critical role in the development, design, and maintenance of American Express Commercial APIs u2022 Architect large-scale distributed systems that ensuring continued success u2022 Work across the engineering team to build new product features and services u2022 Lead, mentor and learn with other developers in all aspects of planning, development and testing u2022 Be a catalyst for driving best-in-class technology practices and patterns while staying engaged with the latest technology trends What we're looking for in you: u2022 Proactivity: Resourceful, has grit, and a positive u201ccan dou201d attitude; acts without being told what to do u2022 Flexibility/adaptability: Is cool with rapidly changing priorities and projects u2022 Follow-through: Follows-through on items without being managed u2022 Calm under pressure: Ability to navigate and lead the team through high-priority last minute requests and other high stress situations; Works well under high-pressure timelines u2022 Analytical skills: Likes learning and learns quickly u2022 Communication: Ability to speak clearly and with intent Qualifications u2022 Strong experience working with Kotlin as well as any of the following object-oriented backend languages: C#, Scala, Java u2022 Knowledge of frameworks and tools in the respective language enabling effective and efficient development u2022 Recent experience working with Kotlin at the enterprise level u2013 particularly in Kotlin re-writes is a plus. u2022 Understanding and interest in architectural patterns for highly available, scalable, low-latency, asynchronous systems (for example, well-designed REST APIs, Microservices, high volume data pipelines, efficient algorithms) u2022 Exposure to the benefits and challenges micro-services can bring u2022 Experience working with Kafka or other streaming platforms u2022 Experience with any cloud-based provider like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud u2022 Strong experience with relational (PSQL) and non relational (redis, couchbase) databases u2022 Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines u2022 Experience working in agile environments with code reviews and automated testing Skills Microservices, kotlin, C#, rest api, CI/CD, Cloud, database, Kafka, sql, redis, couchbase, postgresql, GraphQL Top Skills Details Microservices,kotlin,C#,rest api,CI/CD,Cloud,database,Kafka Additional Skills & Qualifications Non-Technical: u2022 Must be a self starter, growth oriented engineer who takes initiative in their work
