This job contributes to Starbucksu2019 success by leading a team of operations managers within a Roastery to achieve business results while elevating systems that create the Starbucks Reserveu00ae Experience for our customers and partners. The Starbucks Reserveu00ae senior operations manager provides portfolio level leadership expertise and support in retail food and beverage while continuously improving partner capability, customer experience and business results. Your time is spent building capabilities in staffing, coaching, developing, and managing the performance of a portfolio of operations managers and partners, serving customers to create a world class, hospitable experience, maintaining a safe store environment, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations, and maximizing business performance across the portfolio. The partner is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Starbucks mission and values. This role is based on-site at a Reserve or Roastery location and requires open availability (including nights, weekends, and holidays) to ensure the incumbent can meet the needs of the business. _As a_ _senior operations manager_ _you will:_ Leadership u2022 Set goals and pace for operations managers, develop organizational capability, and model how we work together. u2022 Manage with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of Starbucks. u2022 Drive the engagement, development, and performance of all managers on their team. u2022 Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a positive attitude, confidence in leadership, and collaborative teamwork to achieve business results. u2022 Support the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods, and practices to promote Starbucks key messages and achieve a competitive advantage. u2022 Develop relationships in the retail market to keep current with industry talent, benchmarking, and identifying industry trends. u2022 Model exceptional customer service and relationship-building behaviors. u2022 Stay abreast of the business and competitive landscape, trends, and key business drivers to strategically identify opportunities that will maximize sales and ensure financial goals are achieved. u2022 Collaborates with both on site cross functional specialists and other support partners to accelerate business performance and unlock capability. Planning and Execution u2022 Develop strategic and operational plans for the operations managers, manage execution, and deliver results. u2022 Direct and continuously improve store operations across the total Roastery to achieve company objectives for both operational excellence and business unit results. u2022 Identify, plan, and execute areas for improvement to ensure consistent exceptional service to customers. u2022 Plan and execute strategies to increase sales while controlling operational costs within the Roastery. u2022 Plan, communicate, and manage processes and practices to ensure that programs and initiatives align with company and business unit goals and objectives. u2022 Communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately to ensure effective operations at the zone and store level. Business Requirements u2022 Provide subject matter expertise and execute functional responsibilities. u2022 Access retail support partners to support Roastery-wide operations and execute store and ecosystem-wide initiatives, such as Partner Resources, Partner & Asset Protection, Technology, Retail Public Health, Finance, Facilities, and others. u2022 Build operations manager capability to analyze zone-level business trends and results. u2022 Provide feedback on a regular basis to support partners to ensure the most successful business partnership. u2022 Manage retail business financials (e.g., food and beverage costs, labor, and other controllables), set quarterly business priorities, and drive the operations manager team to grow sales in service of achieving business unit and company goals. u2022 Create Roastery-specific strategies and manage a team of managers to deliver results across all categories. u2022 Utilize operational tools, resources, and reports to analyze the business and identify and address trends and issues in store performance. u2022 Work with local service providers to support day-to-day operational needs and ensure procedures are followed. u2022 Manage service of alcohol according to all state and federal laws and regulations, as well as company and brand policies and standards. Partner Development & Team Building u2022 Provide partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities, using collaboration and peer coaching to build effective teams. u2022 Develop and maintain a culture of confident and knowledgeable managers and partners who deliver differentiated experiences, prioritize customers over tasks, and create a welcoming, inspiring, rewarding, and seamless experience. u2022 Challenge and inspire partners to achieve business results. u2022 Build operations manager capability to coach, develop, and manage the performance of their direct reports. u2022 Develop the team and provide opportunities for growth, promote innovation, and lead the team to develop best practices and share ideas. u2022 Coach, mentor, and inspire partners based on their individual strengths, opportunities, and needs. Lead with, coach, and promote a growth mindset. u2022 Ensure operations managers and partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements. u2022 Oversee training and development of partners, ensuring they receive effective and efficient training to perform their jobs with excellence. u2022 Recruit, hire, and retain a passionate team with function-specific knowledge and expertise in various skills. u2022 Provide coaching, direction, and leadership support to team members to achieve partner, business, and customer results. u2022 Utilize various performance and talent development methods to meet the needs of individual partners and the objectives of the business. u2022 Communicate regularly with the store leadership team (including operations managers, specialists, and the store director) about operational and partner observations, challenges, concerns, insights, and suggestions. Weu2019dloveto hear from people with: u2022 5+ years of experience managing multi-unit retail, restaurant, large scale restaurant and/or hospitality organizations. u2022 Experience working across functional business units to develop effective business solutions that align with company and business unit/department objectives u2022 Experience and proven capability in financial planning, forecasting, analysis, and profit and loss responsibility u2022 Experience and proven in effective decision-making and operational problem-solving to achieve business optimization u2022 Ability to increase store sales and profitability through operational improvement u2022 Ability to recruit, assess, train, develop and promote partners u2022 Available to work flexible hours, which could include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays u2022 21+ years of age Preferred Qualifications u2022 Education: College degree or experience in a closely related field may substitute for a portion of the required experience u2022 Leadership experience in a high volume, full service, and structured restaurant concept u2022 Experience with lifestyle based experiential brands, hospitality, big-box and/or specialty retail, restaurants and/or fine dining preferred u2022 Experience with building and cultivating relationships with customers, partners, local market leaders (internal and external) and the community u2022 Additional languages beneficial As a Starbucks partner, you (and your family) will have access to medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, and other voluntary insurance benefits.
