Job Title: Field Technician Job Description We are seeking a Field Technician to support OSP aerial design and services. The role involves collecting field data, including the location and condition of poles, to be used in aerial design. The technician will be responsible for taking pictures of existing poles, equipment, and cables, as well as identifying their owners. Additionally, the role includes collecting permitting activities from cities, counties, and other permitting agencies and attending site walks to obtain material summaries. The technician will work closely with a senior technician in residential and business areas to take measurements of poles and may also assist with OSP design work. Responsibilities + Collect field data on poles and their locations for aerial design purposes. + Take photographs of existing poles, equipment, and cables. + Identify and document cable types and ownership. + Gather permitting activities from various agencies. + Attend site walks and obtain material summaries. + Work with a lead technician to measure poles in residential and business areas. Essential Skills + Experience with OSP, AutoCAD, and construction. + 0-1 years of experience in fieldwork. + 1+ years of fieldwork experience in landscape, construction, land surveying, or utility locating. + Willingness to work outdoors in various conditions and partner with a technician. + Proficiency in GIS and CAD. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Preferred experience in telecommunications. + Previous travel experience is advantageous. + Ability to collect and document data accurately. + Physical ability to handle power poles, measure equipment, and navigate rough terrain. Work Environment This position requires working primarily in the field, often in diverse weather conditions. The technician will travel from Monday to Friday, starting the week by meeting at the Woodbury office to pick up a company vehicle before heading to job sites. Projects are located within 60-90 minutes of the Twin Cities area, but may extend to other states. The technician will partner with another individual in the field. The role is secure with no winter layoffs, and work is called off if temperatures drop to -10 degrees or colder. Future travel opportunities are available across the country upon project completion. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodbury, Minnesota Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
