Join VHB and help us build resilient, vibrant communities—while expanding our footprint in Tampa and beyond.ResponsibilitiesDevelop site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of projects, including large-scale institutional, industrial, and mixed-use developments.Help build and lead a team of civil engineering professionals.Provide technical and career guidance as a mentor to staff.Support preparation of land development design and permitting documents.Assist in project task scope, budget and schedule management.Prepare and review drawings and specifications documenting the systems designed.Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues.Supervise design team activities during Construction Administration.Manage work and development of junior level staff.Manage small, medium, or large tasks.Support business development activities, including identifying new opportunities, developing client relationships, and preparing technical proposals and fee estimates.Help expand VHB’s footprint across Tampa and the broader Florida market through strategic pursuits, networking, and proactive client engagement.Participate in strategy discussions for client pursuits and collaborate with leadership to grow market presence in Florida’s land development sector.Maintain and grow existing client relationships while actively increasing VHB’s visibility through professional organization involvement and community presence.Skills and AttributesHighly proficient in MS Office, ICPR and/or StormWise, WaterCAD, StormCAD or similar software, and AutoCAD Civil 3DProficient in site layout, grading, utility design, erosion/sediment control, and stormwater managementKnowledge of land development construction including codes and development regulationsKnowledge of construction materials and detailing, including detail drawings, sections, and material specificationsExcellent innovative design skillsStrong, creative engineering skills and ability to adhere to office standardsExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsSelf-motivated with strong attention to detail and ability to think criticallyExcels at working in a team environmentStrong client engagement, proposal writing, and presentation skillsProven ability to support or lead business development initiativesExhibits strong leadership skills and growth potentialQualificationsBS in Civil Engineering or related field8+ years of professional site/civil engineering experience, including consulting/private sector experiencePE licensure requiredExperience in the Florida market, particularly the greater Tampa area, is required.We are VHB!We’re an inspired and innovative team of engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments.
