ABOUT THE POSITIONVHB’s Watertown, MA office is looking for an Entry Level Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning & Operations group. The selected candidate will work with a team of transportation planners and engineers on a variety of public, private and institutional projects within broad cross-section of markets, including private sector development, municipal, state agencies, higher education, federal land and aviation.ResponsibilitiesWorking within a team of professionals in developing traffic and transportation planning and engineering solutions for a multitude of transportation projectsTraffic impact studiesSafety studiesTransportation planning analysesResearch and interpret transportation data, community statistics and demographicsPrepare written planning documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reportsTraffic data collection and tabulationIntersection and roadway level of service analysesDevelopment, analysis and evaluation of traffic improvementsRoadway and intersection conceptual designSkills and AttributesExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skillsTeam oriented with strong capability to work independentlySelf-motivated with attention to detailAbility to think criticallyStrong computer skillsKnowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) requiredQualificationsBS in Civil Engineering0-1 years of professional transportation engineering experienceEIT preferredExperience with AutoCAD a plusExperience with Synchro, Vissim, and/or HCS a plusExperience with ArcGIS a plusWe are VHB!We’re an inspired and innovative team of engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments.
