Job Title: Field Mechanic - Micro SurfacingDivision: EquipmentSupervisor: Shop SupervisorJob Summary: Under limited supervision from the shop foreman, the Field Mechanic is responsible for performing complex diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy equipment and DOT-regulated trucks. This journeyman-level role also includes performing field service calls and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Individual will travel and work with crews to maintain Micro-surfacing equipment and trucks. Could work in shop environment during lag times and winter.Duties and Responsibilities:Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.Perform duties of a journeyman mechanic.Diagnose, rebuild, and repair vehicles and equipment.Conduct electrical diagnostics and repairs on complex systems.Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks.Respond to major road calls and perform field repairs.Operate service truck equipped with tools, parts, and diagnostic equipment.Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on fleet vehicles and equipment.Maintain accurate service records and reports.Operate forklifts and heavy equipment as needed.Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and union contracts.Maintain an insurable driving record.Promote and maintain a safe and healthful work environment.Education and/or Experience:High school diploma or GED required.Minimum of 2 years journeyman mechanic experience; 2-year diesel mechanic certificate preferred.CDL and DOT medical card required. Tank endorsement preferred.*Physical Demands /Safety are dependent on location of position.
