Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Santa Barbara, California. This is a long-term contract position ideal for someone with expertise in corporate tax and accounting processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with tax regulations. Responsibilities: u2022 Prepare and review corporate tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations. u2022 Manage sales tax reporting and filings, addressing any discrepancies or issues promptly. u2022 Record and reconcile journal entries to maintain accurate financial data. u2022 Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly documented. u2022 Collaborate with internal teams to support audits and provide necessary documentation. u2022 Analyze financial statements and reports to identify trends and discrepancies. u2022 Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. u2022 Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance. u2022 Provide recommendations for improving accounting processes and efficiency. Requirements u2022 Proven experience in tax preparation and reporting. u2022 Proficiency in recording journal entries and maintaining general ledger accounts. u2022 Familiarity with financial statement analysis and reporting. u2022 Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. u2022 Ability to work collaboratively with teams and independently when required. u2022 Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. u2022 Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field preferred.
