Job Description Urodynamic testing is used to analyze symptoms of problems with the urinary tract, such as painful or frequent urination. Testing is performed by urodynamic technicians, under the supervision of physicians. These technicians assist patients through the testing process, which can be extensive. Qualifications Education Requirements Vocational or Technical training in Medical Assisting required. Licensing and Certification Requirements (if applicable) ____________ Certificate Medical Assistant Certificate required. BCLS Required Collective bargaining unit: SEIU 1199-MSBI SEIU 1199 at Mount Sinai Beth Israel and MS Downtown, AMD - Phillips Urology Department - USD, Union Square - Downtown Responsibilities 1. Greets and escorts the patients to the Urodynamic rooms. 2. Explains and performs the urodynamic testing to the patient. 3. Runs a urine analysis when necessary. 4. When necessary if the doctor is seeing the patient immediately after the test. They urodynamic technician will escort the patient to an exam room and let the doctor know what the findings were. 5. Cleans and disinfects the room and equipment for the next patient. 6. Stocks rooms every Friday. 7. Verifies eligibility and benefits for upcoming urodynamic patients. 8. Obtains authorizations if needed. 9. Monitors daily schedule to facilitate a smooth patient flow. 10. Returns phone calls, provides needed information or takes messages when appropriate. 11. Washes, disinfects and prepares equipment for onsite sterilization when needed. 12. Administers injections as ordered by the physician/physician assistant prior to testing being done. 13. Is utilized as a back-up medical assistant with all the responsibilities of a medical assistant. 14. Notifies manager of any difficulty with patients or equipment malfunctions and when supplies are needed.
