Summary This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2026. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applicants will be October 23, 2025 with subsequent cut-off dates every two weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until position is filled. Responsibilities The Joseph Maxwell Cleland Atlanta VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Physician (Neurologist) within the Neuroscience Service Line (NSSL). The successful candidate will serve as a Neurologist. The Physician ensures the quality and timeliness of the services provided, customer satisfaction, as well as compliance with the standards of accrediting ensure appropriate use of the available resources and will be responsible for the state-of-the-art standards of care. The incumbent collaborates with other services as appropriate. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards. Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Duties include, but are not limited to: Provides clinical consultation to Atlanta VA Medical Center clinical staff both within and outside of Neuroscience Service Line. Examinations for neurological patients may include tests of a patient's cranial nerve function, cognitive status, motor skills, sensory system, or other components of central or peripheral nervous system function by asking the patient to perform activities. Provides guidance, teaching and consultation on staff education and development to Atlanta VA Medical Center Neurology clinical staff including resident physicians as well as other clinical trainees and clinical staff. May serve on Atlanta VAMC Committees at the discretion of Neuroscience Service Chief and Medical Center needs. Participates in and/or manage aspects of the outpatient and inpatient General Neurology services to include clinical, administrative, academic, and research components if warranted. Manages patient workload within available staffing, which may include support of physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and/ or telehealth clinical technicians. Performs the usual administrative components of patient care management as Neurologist in the outpatient clinic and the inpatient consult service, such as: documentation of progress notes and consultation findings in an electronic medical record. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
