Position Overview As a collaborative and strategic member of the Market Leadership team, the Market Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for leading and advancing nursing practice and care delivery across the market. The CNO provides visionary leadership in clinical quality, patient safety, care team engagement, and overall care delivery performance. This executive role ensures that nursing and patient care operations across the market align with UnityPoint Healthu2019s mission, vision, values, and strategic goals. The CNO plays a critical role in translating strategy into practice, serving as a key connector between local market operations, the broader UnityPoint Health system, and our strategic partnership with UW Health under the Joint Operating Agreement. The CNO operates in a dyad partnership with the Market Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to ensure the delivery of high-quality, integrated, and patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities + Provide strategic leadership for nursing and patient care services across the market, ensuring alignment with UnityPoint Health system goals. + Drive excellence in clinical quality, patient safety, and care team engagement across all care settings. + Lead efforts to continuously improve patient experience, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency. + Partner with system-level nursing leadership and act as the primary nursing liaison within the market. + Ensure nursing practice standards meet regulatory and professional requirements. + Build and support effective nursing leadership teams across the market. + Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and inclusion. + Strengthen partnerships with UPH and UW Health, supporting alignment and integration of nursing practices across organizations. + Serve as a visible, accessible, and engaged leader to frontline nursing teams and clinical staff. + Participate in community and stakeholder engagement efforts to align care delivery with the health needs of the population. Qualifications Education: + Masteru2019s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field required. + Current WI RN license Experience: + Minimum 7 years of progressive leadership experience in nursing or healthcare operations. + Proven success in leading high-performing teams and improving clinical outcomes. + Experience working in integrated healthcare systems or matrixed environments is preferred. + Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. Skills & Competencies: + Strategic thinker with strong execution and operational management skills. + Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities. + Deep understanding of healthcare regulations, clinical standards, and quality improvement practices. + Ability to build trust and drive cultural transformation across large, complex organizations.
