Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesJob Summary / PurposeSterile Processing Supervisors are responsible for the day to day operations of the Sterile Processing Department. They work collaboratively with OR Leadership and ancillary Departments to meet instrumentation and sterilization needs. They maintain accurate instrument checklists and process documentation. They are a resource for all sterilization needs and responsible for following manufacturers IFU.Essential Key Job ResponsibilitiesOversees the day to day operations of the Sterile Processing Department and Staff.Has the authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, and complete performance evaluations.Manages department inventory of supplies/implants.Performs staff recognition and/or corrective action when neededWorks with Repair Vendor to maintain functioning instrumentation and orders replacements when needed.Develops staff schedules and job rotation where neededAble to perform all duties of Sterile Processing Tech I and Sterile Processing Tech II.Works with Infection Prevention, Quality, and OR to develop Quality Metrics and maintain Quality Standards and serves as a resource for Ancillary departments as applicable.Participates in meetings and committees as needed.Provides and oversees Staff Education and Competency Performance.Monitors and reports Productivity and budget variances.Reports issues/concerns to Manager and/or Director.Job RequirementsRequired Education for Staff Job LevelsHigh School DiplomaRequired Licensure and CertificationsSterile Processing Certification through CBSPD or IAHCSM (Obtained within 6 months of Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMinimum 2 years’ experiencePREFERRED QualificationsPreferred 3-5 years’ experience in fieldWhere You'll WorkCHI Health St. Francis was established in Grand Island, Neb. in 1887.
