Basic QualificationsRequires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred.CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, citizenship is required. Responsibilities for this Position General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Senior Systems Engineer for Restricted Ground Systems. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:As an Senior Systems Engineer for Restricted Ground Systems, you’ll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for designing, building, and integrating critical Ground Systems sites for our customers.We encourage you to apply if you have any of these preferred skills or experiences: Systems Engineering, Software and Hardware Development, Modem, Antenna Systems, Troubleshooting.REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:Performs requirements analysis, requirements definition, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, detail trade studies, systems integration and test (verification), validation and interface definition studies of subsystem or system elements under supervision of the lead systems engineerPerforms technical planning, cost and risk analyses, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for subsystems and system elementsPerforms customer requirements analysis, develops system requirements and defines allocations to lower levels (elements and components)Performs detailed technical analyses for a subsystem or system elementsDevelops and evaluates systems, networks and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specificationsMay provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features (, identification, authentication, access control, labeling, and auditing) of the system are considered and function properlyMay develop system security documentation on both new and fielded information systemsParticipates in Modeling and SimulationResearches and analyzes data, such as vendor products, COTS components, GFE/CFE, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or applicationSupports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycleMay provide leadership and/or direction to lower level employeesIndependently determines proposed approach to solutionsContributes to the completion of major programs and projectsPlans and executes project tasks for activities described aboveCreative, innovative responsibilities requiring advanced decision-making skillsDefines processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibilityDemonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutionsDesigns a complete and complex framework, system or productIdentifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknessesRegular contact with senior levels of internal work groupsWorks under limited directionContact with Deputy Program Managers Engineering (DPME) and other professionals within theEngineering department and with project teams across the companyFrequent contact with external customersLimited Travel may be requiredProvides resolution to a diverse range of complex problemsIndependently determines approach to solutionsKeeps abreast of technology trendsContributes to the achievement of business objectivesKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Coordinating external interfaces and ICDsMulti-level security domain expertise (and cross-domain)Quickly (with a more agile light-weight approach) decomposing requirements to a level that can avoid requirements bloat (and communicate/track impacts)Someone that can understand what is in scope and what is out of scope and manage that complexityPeople with agile program experienceOur Commitment to You:An exciting career path with opportunities for continuous learning and development.Research oriented work, alongside award winning teams developing practical solutions for our nation’s securityFlexible schedules with every other Friday off work, if desired (9/80 schedule)Competitive benefits, including 401k matching, flex time off, paid parental leave, healthcare benefits, health & wellness programs, employee resource and social groups, and moreSee more at Workplace Options:This position is full on-site.While on-site, you will be a part of the #CJ1 Target salary range: USD $139, - USD $154,;This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
