RN Obstetrics JOB RELATIONSHIPS Supervises RNs, LPNs, NAs, UCs and other Patient Care Services Employees; responsible to Clinical Director. DEFINITION OF POSITION The Registered Nurse is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the nursing care of assigned patients. QUALIFICATIONS Professional Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. Current NRP or obtain within 6 months of employment. Current AHA BLS certification required. ACLS if applicable. Professional certification preferred. Personal Maintains good physical and emotional well-being. Works effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion and diplomacy. Evidence of knowledge and ability to use proper channels of communication Possesses a sense of responsibility, initiative and honesty. Physical Stamina -- Capable of standing/walking for long periods of time (2-4 hours). Strength -- Minimally capable of: Free lifting 35 pounds. Pushing stretchers/beds under loads of 200-500 pounds, with assistance. Lifting patients up to 250 pounds with staff/mechanical assistance. Reflexes/Agility -- Minimally capable of: Frequent stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending, during 8-12 hour shift. Responding to sudden, unexpected movements of patients. Responding quickly and effectively to emergencies; i.e., chemical spills (medications, IV fluids), infectious exposures, patient contact, needles/syringes, waste handling (bodily fluids), medical equipment. Hearing and Visual Acuity Capable of hearing and responding to patients/staff/others who cannot be visualized. Visual acuity/color perception that permits patient assessment, monitoring devices/readouts. Dexterity -- Handwriting skills to facilitate documentation for patient care, handling of equipment, and laboratory specimens.
