Environmental Scientist

Job Title: Asbestos Investigator (3+ Years Experience) Location: New York City Employment Type: Full-Time Job Description We are seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to join our environmental services team. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of field experience conducting asbestos inspections and preparing comprehensive reports in compliance with NYC DEP regulations. This role involves managing a variety of tasks, including environmental investigations and assessments, regulatory compliance, asbestos and lead paint inspections, and remediation oversight. You will conduct field monitoring of abatement projects in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, perform XRF testing and data recording, and provide technical support and report writing. Key Responsibilities + Conduct environmental investigations, assessments and field inspections at residential and commercial properties within the NYC metro area + Prepare detailed inspection reports and required regulatory forms (including ACP-5 Forms, if applicable) + Review construction drawings and project scopes to assist in pre-inspection planning + Survey and sample suspect asbestos-containing materials in compliance with applicable regulations + Submit collected bulk samples to certified laboratories for analysis + Maintain accurate recordkeeping and documentation per NYC DEP requirements + Navigate indoor and outdoor environments to perform inspections, including climbing stairwells and working in various field conditions Required Qualifications + 3+ years of experience in asbestos investigation or related environmental field + Strong understanding of asbestos regulations and NYC DEP compliance standards + Proficient in reading construction drawings and scopes of work + Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing clear, accurate reports + Ability to safely handle environmental sampling equipment and materials Certifications Required + HAZWOPER Certification + Hazmat Certification + OSHA Certification (30-Hour preferred) Preferred Skills + Experience in Environmental Science or a related field + Experience with environmental compliance, site assessment, or field sampling + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Physical Requirements + Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying conditions + Must be able to ascend/descend stairwells and carry equipment as needed + Manual dexterity required for field equipment use, writing, and data entry Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr. benefits package; include medical, vision, dental and PTO Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in New York,NY.
