Job Overview The Medical Director of Inclusive Care leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of AltaMed’s model of care for patients with LGBTQ+ identities, substance use disorders, histories of incarceration, and other marginalized backgrounds. The Medical Director works closely with Executive Physician and Operational Leadership, the AltaMed Institute for Health Equity (AIHE), DVL HIV Services, Pharmacy, and Quality and Patient Safety to improve care and achieve key health outcomes. The Medical Director participates in internal and external committees and task forces to lead healthcare systems improvements in health care for marginalized patients in underserved communities. In addition, the Medical Director is required to practice primary care medicine a minimum of 20% time serving as a physician educator, trainer, mentor for peer physicians, nurses and other staff and dedicates the remaining 80% of their time to develop, implement and evaluate AltaMed care model for patients, and will seek additional grant funding to expand the implementation of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP), HIV prevention, MAT and LGBTQ+ services and education among providers and staff. Minimum Requirements: 1. Physician with an active unrestrictive CA license to practice medicine by the Medical Board of California. 2. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a physician leader in the areas of primary care practice required. 3. Experience care model development focused on underserved populations. 4. Leadership and/or management experience at a community health center or clinic serving primary underserved patients. 5. Experience building teams and excellent communication skills. 6. Experience in grant development and writing ability to secure local and national grants 7. Previous experience with computer-based systems required; Electronic Medical records experience preferred. 8. Education and training necessary to have obtained a medical degree. Requires valid license to practice medicine in the State of California. Board Certified in specialty preferred. 9. Education, training and experience necessary to meet the underwritten requirements for inclusion under AltaMed’s malpractice insurance coverage. 10. Bilingual: English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese preferred depending on location. 11. Current Valid CPR Certification.
