Description The School of Analytics, Finance, and Economics invites globally renowned scholars to submit an application for consideration as the Vandeveer Chair in Economics to start August 11, 2026. Southern Illinois University-Carbondale is a Carnegie High Research Activity Institution offering BA, MA, MS, and PHD degrees in Economics. The Economics program is housed within the College of Business and Analytics. This position is represented by SIU Carbondale Faculty Association/IEA-NEA. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. Examples of Duties The selected candidate will teach doctoral courses with a 1/1 teaching load, engage in scholarly research, supervise doctoral students, and bring visibility to the university. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:PhD in Economics or related discipline and currently holding the rank of Professor. Research accomplishments exemplified by numerous, high-quality publications in the areas of Development Economics, International Economics, or Monetary Economics.Preferred Qualifications:Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated effective supervision of doctoral candidates in Economics and who have served on journal editorial boards (especially as editors or co-editors).Required Documents:A cover letter is required and should be uploaded to your application along with a curriculum vita and sample of current research.
