Employment Benefits:Comprehensive medical, mental, dental, vision, and additional coverageSick & Vacation leaveWork-Life Balance programs: parental leave, military leave, jury leave, funeral leavePaid State Holidays (designated by the Governor annually)Fitness Centers in select locationsEmployee discounts with theRetirement and deferred compensation programsVisit the Employee Benefits page for more information…Position Summary & Responsibilities:This position will remain posted until filled.Location: KDA Headquarters, Manhattan, KSDevelop and manage the state’s regulatory weed program.Manage the appointments of the Noxious Weed Advisory Board and hold up to four meetings of the board per calendar year to accomplish the statutory and regulatory requirements of the board.Document the status of regulatory pest management programs in progress.Develop and manage the state’s seed program including but not limited to the development of inspection protocols, policies, and regulations.Provide training to program area staff to identify and survey for weeds of concern and seed regulation.Training programs may be offered to agency staff, associated governmental agencies, and industry.Provides support to enforcement actions initiated by area staff in the area of weeds to ensure compliance with state and/or federal regulations.Qualifications:Professionally minded individuals with four years experience of plant protection regulatory activities in agronomy, weed science, or related field is preferred. Candidates may also qualify through a combination of relevant education, work experience, training or certification.Ability to obtain certification with USDA-APHIS-PPQ to complete export commodity certification inspections and issue federal export certification documents.Ability to obtain pesticide applicator certification in 9A, 9B.This position must perform routine office tasks such as sitting, reading, examining documents, and viewing a computer for long periods of time.This position requires physical dexterity that permits standing, kneeling, bending, and stretching, and climbing up and down steps, and lifting objects.This position must be able to traverse non-uniform terrain while carrying equipment and/or samples and capable of working outdoors during different seasons of the year.Employee is required have a valid Class C (or higher) Kansas driver’s license or equivalent license from another state. Employee is responsible to maintain an acceptable driving record to safely drive state vehicle and be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position.Post-Offer/Pre-employment Requirements:Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate:A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas.
