Job Title: HVAC Design EngineerJob Description We are seeking an experienced HVAC Design Engineer to join our team in the MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) sector. This role involves providing engineering and design services for hydronic and air-side HVAC systems in design-build projects. The ideal candidate will be skilled in creating construction documents, performing energy analysis, and conducting ASHRAE Level I and II energy audits. Responsibilities + Design hydronic and air-side HVAC systems for design-build projects + Produce construction documents and coordinate with other trades and vendors + Review vendor submittals and verify field conditions + Conduct energy analysis of existing buildings and recommend efficiency improvements + Perform savings calculations, scope definition, and life cycle cost analysis + Conduct ASHRAE Level I and II energy audits and field surveys + Collaborate with sales, engineering, project management, and field teams to meet project schedules + Provide technical support for system troubleshooting and operations + Review and refine designs developed by other team members + Assist in proposal development with sales staff + Travel locally to job sites to support design and documentation efforts Essential Skills + Proficiency in HVAC and energy engineering calculations + Ability to evaluate existing systems and equipment performance + Degree in mechanical engineering with at least 4 years of design experience + Skilled in blueprint reading across architectural and building trades + Knowledge of sheet metal and hydronic piping layout and fabrication + Ability to coordinate with multiple building trades + Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint + Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit/BIM software + Strong HVAC system design capabilities Additional Qualifications + 5+ years of experience preferred + Experience in energy engineering is a plus + Familiarity with Trane Trace software is a plus + Plumbing design experience is a plus Work Environment This position is based at the company’s offices in South Windsor, Connecticut and Springfield, Massachusetts, offering comfortable workspaces with ample parking. The role is primarily office-based, with occasional travel to regional job sites. You’ll have a dedicated office and work closely with a collaborative team. Job Type & LocationsContract position based out of South Windsor, CT and Springfield, MA Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
