TheMember Engagement Representative/Youth Development Staff Member roleis responsible for curating member experiences. The MER provides a welcoming environment “For All” and engages members and guests. The MER connects members and guests to the Y’s programs and services, ensuring every person who enters the West Cook YMCA has a quality, intentional experience.This role will include time spent working in various areas of Youth Development, such as After School Programs, Youth Sports Programs, and our Kids Zone experience. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with youth of all ages, and must be nurturing, understanding, and reliable in order to help curate a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for both youth and their families.This portion of the job position requires a presence in school settings and other youth-centered spaces, where building positive relationships and fostering a sense of belonging are essential to success. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to youth development and be comfortable leading activities, managing groups, and responding to the social and emotional needs of children in their care.SHIFTS AVAILABLE:Weekdays/Weekends: 6:00 am-2:00 pmWeekdays/Weekends: 2:00 pm-10:00 pmSaturdays: 8:00am-12:00 pm.*Variable depending on Youth Development shifts covered*Set and meet monthly goals with the Member Engagement Supervisor that supports the department’s monthly goalsEnsure a welcoming environment by providing greeting all members, participants, staff, residents, vendors, and guestsUnderstand all WCY’s membership, programs, and services including scholarships and other Y amenitiesBuild relationships with members and participants to engage and connect them to the Ys programs and services; directing them to appropriate program leads when necessaryProvide professional, quality, and engaging cause-driven tours that are personalized to the prospect and invite potential members to join the YAnswer member inquiries and phone calls; Address and resolve member, resident, and program participant concerns and conflictsUtilize Daxko CRM and other systems to maintain, enter, and update member, resident, and participants accounts including completing memberships, registrations, and facility reservationsPrepare member records and issues membership ID cards and handles all registration/enrollment transactionsAssist Member Experience Supervisor with membership business and administrative tasks. Assist supervisor in sales acquisition activities as assignedAdhere to sign-in/out, guest, visitor, monitoring youth in the facility and other relevant policies and procedures. Report any suspicious behavior and violations of policy and procedures to your supervisor. Report any items that may provide a health or safety hazard to staff, members, or guests to the maintenance staffAdvocate for the Y and participate in fundraisers & promotional events and supporting other programs and/or organizational operations as assigned by the Member Engagement Director, Supervisor or CoordinatorsSupport the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by reporting any health or safety hazards to staff, members, and guests, follow all policies and procedures related to keeping children safe in our facilities and programs, including those related to monitoring and supervision of children, report any suspicious behavior and violation of policy and procedures to supervisorMust be 18 years or olderPost High School education or equivalent education and experienceMinimum 1 year of experience and/or training working with childrenMust demonstrate good judgment and creativity as well as enthusiasm, dedication, responsibility, and maturityAbility to care for and manage children of diverse ages and cultures.Assertiveness to handle discipline and accident/incidents.Two years’ experience in service, sales or related industryExperience using Microsoft Office softwareTelephone system operating experienceCurrent CPR, AED and First Aid certification preferred, otherwise, must obtain certification within 30 days of offer. Must maintain current on these certifications.
