Description Job Scope u2013 Material Handler / Yard Person Position Overview The Material Handler / Yard Person will be responsible for maintaining the yard, organizing materials and equipment, and providing support to crews in the field. This role ensures that materials and equipment are readily available, safely stored, and properly maintained to support efficient operations. Key Responsibilities Material Management u2022 Receive, order, and inventory materials as needed. u2022 Stack, organize, and put away materials in designated areas. u2022 Prepare and load/unload materials for crews. u2022 Track usage and report shortages or damages. Yard Maintenance u2022 Maintain yard appearance (grass cutting, weed control, trash removal). u2022 Keep storage and laydown areas clean, organized, and safe. u2022 Ensure equipment and trailers are parked in designated areas. Equipment & Transportation u2022 Safely transport trailers, tools, and equipment to and from the yard and job sites. u2022 Perform basic checks on equipment before use (tires, lights, fluids, etc.). u2022 Support crews by delivering materials and equipment as requested. Field Support u2022 Deliver materials to crews in the field as needed. u2022 Assist with loading/unloading materials at job sites. u2022 Communicate with supervisors and crews to ensure timely delivery and support. Qualifications & Skills u2022 Valid driveru2019s license (CDL preferred but not required). u2022 Ability to operate forklifts, trailers, and yard equipment safely. u2022 Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. u2022 Physical ability to lift and move materials. u2022 Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work independently. Reporting Structure u2022 Reports directly to the Yard Supervisor / Superintendent. u2022 Works closely with field crews and project managers to ensure material readiness.
