Please review the desired competencies section of this posting for desired qualifications.For appointment to an Employees Retirement System Examiner 1 (full journey level, SG-9), you must have:u2022 One year of experience performing at least one of the following tasks: reconciling accounts, calculating payments, collecting and analyzing statistics and information, or explaining policy or benefit information to the petitive Minimum Qualifications:You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Candidates hired at the trainee level will be advanced to the full performance Employees Retirement System Examiner 1 SG-9 following successful completion of the traineeship Additional Comments Preferred Qualifications/Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Has knowledge of laws, rules, regulations, legal opinions, and established written procedures of New York State and Local Retirement Systems. u2022 Ability to read, understand and interpret regulations, procedural manuals, and other documents used in routine office processing. u2022 Must be able to prepare, understand and interpret written materials.u2022 Must skilled in arithmetic reasoning and able to perform high level complex calculation.u2022 Ability to understand and use common office record keeping and filing systems and processes. u2022 Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally. Telecommuting: The Office of the New York State Comptroller (OSC) supports telecommuting where it is reasonable to do so based upon the agencyu2019s mission and operational needs. Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks.
