Distribution Lineman Requisition ID: 1867 Job Category: Craft / Technical Location: Oklahoma City, OK, US, 73105 Job Description: JOB INFORMATION u2022 Job Title: Distribution Lineman or Distribution Lineman Apprentice u2022 Job Code: 105132 or 105703 u2022 Job Grade: L1 or Apprentice 25 JOB SUMMARY We are hiring for either a Distribution Lineman or Distribution Lineman Apprentice based on candidates' qualifications. Performs a variety of duties related to the installation, operation, repair, and maintenance of overhead and/or underground distribution systems, transmission facilities, and street light systems to provide continuous and dependable electric service to customers. LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY u2022 Performs varied tasks and projects directly related to craft trade. Gathers and analyzes relevant information to develop and implement the best course of action to ensure job is successfully completed in a safe manner. Often works under minimal or no supervision. Resolves most questions and problems, and refers only the most complex issues to higher level. Resolves problems through mastery of craft, trade knowledge and principles. Follows established Operating Procedures, Operating Practices and Approved Work Methods to accomplish requirements of job. Possesses career level knowledge to successfully perform job. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS u2022 Climb poles, set poles and string wire, utilizes and operates equipment (e.g., aerial bucket trucks, and other construction equipment), materials, and manpower in a safe, efficient and effective manner. u2022 Perform substation and operating duties as operating feeder control devices and transmission/distribution switching. u2022 Operates a variety of electronic and other test equipment with a high degree of efficiency. u2022 Constructs and maintains overhead and underground distribution or transmission systems in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. u2022 Investigates and documents events of cut or damaged cable and other company facilities. u2022 All other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS Journey Qualificiations: u2022 High School Diploma/GED and 5 years progressive Lineman experience and completion of OGE Apprentice Program; Or u2022 High School Diploma/GED and 1 year of equivalent Journey Lineman experience (i.e. Electric Utility certified Journeyman Lineman). u2022 Required to maintain permanent residence within a 30 minute driving time to assigned service center. Apprentice Qualifications: u2022 Associate's Degree in a Technical discipline (i.e. Electronics/Engineering Technology/Power Plant Operations/High Voltage/etc); Or u2022 High School Diploma and a certificate of completion/diploma in Electrical Power Technology, High Voltage, or related Power Line Technology; Or u2022 High School Diploma and prior military experience for at least one enlistment as documented on DD Form 214 combined with utility line experience; Or u2022 High School Diploma/GED and utility line experience. u2022 Required to maintain permanent residence within a 30 minute driving time to assigned service center.
