As aSenior Engineer 1, you will join ourBuilding Services team in either our Westfield, Westwood or Sandwich, MA offices, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. At Tighe & Bond, you’ll find an engaging, hybrid work environment, a culture of collaboration, and the resources to support your professional growth and development.Our Structural Team and ProjectsWithin Tighe & Bond’s Building Services business line, our structural engineers work on both new construction and renovation projects across institutional, commercial, residential, and historic preservation sectors. We design and inspect all building structural systems—such as roof decks, beams, columns, masonry bearing walls, below-grade walls, and slabs—and also support equipment support structures or smaller structural components. Our projects often include adaptive reuse and preservation, as evidenced by our involvement in award‑winning structural designs for historic buildings. What You’ll Be DoingAs a valuable part of ourStructural Building Services team, aSenior Engineer 1will support a variety of projects and gain hands-on experience with responsibilities such as:Lead structural analysis and design tasks for building projects, including new additions, renovations, and remodelsPrepare computation reports, structural drawings, details, and specifications using industry-standard toolsCoordinate with architects, MEP, and civil teams to ensure integration of structural systems with other disciplinesConduct structural inspections, assessments, and condition studies, especially in historic buildings or renovationsParticipate in design reviews and perform quality assurance on deliverables (by yourself and less-experienced staff)Assist with construction-phase support, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and occasional site visitsMentor junior engineers and technically support their development in structural methods, modeling, and detailingContribute to business development and proposal efforts by estimating scopes, reviewing technical approaches, and preparing fee estimatesStay current in structural codes, standards, and best practices, and help implement improvements in team workflowsWhat You’ll NeedBachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain)10 - 15 years of structural engineering experience, especially in building designProficiency in structural analysis software (e.g. ETABS, RAM, RISA) and design codes (IBC, AISC, ACI, masonry)Experience working with AutoCAD or Revit for structural modeling and detailingStrong technical judgment, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate multi-discipline designExcellent communication skills for client/consultant collaboration, report writing, and internal reviewsAbility to manage multiple assignments and priorities, ensuring timely and quality deliveryPreferred RequirementsHistoric preservation experience, especially rehabilitation of existing structuresExposure to adaptive reuse projects or integration of new systems into old structuresFamiliarity with building material testing, condition assessment, or structural rehabilitation techniquesExperience with complex structural systems (e.g., long spans, lateral systems, connection design)Active membership in structural or preservation organizations.Your Financial and Wellness BenefitsCompensation is based on skills and experience as reflected in the pay range belowAnnual Bonus, Profit Sharing, and Employee Stock Ownership PlanBest in Class Medical InsuranceDental & Vision InsuranceWellness Rewards and ReimbursementsTuition Reimbursement and Qualified Student Loan Paydown ContributionsReimbursements for Licensure/ Certification Preparation and FeesSummer Fridays Flextime and Hybrid Work EnvironmentPet Insurance and Adoption AssistanceWays to Grow Your CareerWe provide a structured career path with opportunities for professional development through tuition reimbursement, internal training, conference attendance, and professional memberships.
