Unless specifically stated otherwise, this role is 'On-Site' at the location detailed in the job post., AFO is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic to work in Tracy, CA. , To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today!ResponsibilitiesPerform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of construction equipment, material handling equipment, heavy and light duty trucks, fire equipment, power generating equipment and other related equipment.Considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, tools and heavy equipment maintenance trade.Working knowledge of heavy equipment, large vehicles and related equipment.Working knowledge of the hazards and standard safety precautions of the trade.Skill in the use of tools and operation of equipment employed in motor vehicles repair.Has the ability to interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics.Skill in diagnosing and repairing defects in heavy equipment mechanical and electrical components.Ability to maintain records.Ability to move heavy objects (50 pounds or more)Ability to work from specifications and oral and written instructions.Ability to diagnose and repair all types of MHE equipment.Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system problems using a variety of test equipmentRepair and maintain engines, transmissions, and related components by repairing and replacing pumps, rebuilding or replacing transmissions, repairing and replacing starters, grinding valves, replacing gaskets, rings, and seals, and other related work.Repair and maintain electrical systems by interpreting schematics, rewiring ignition and lighting systems and other electrical circuits, replacing alternators, controllers, sensors, replacing bulbs and lights, and other related work.Repair and maintain other components and systems by adjusting replacing brakes; replacing ball joints and wheel bearings; replacing mufflers, exhaust and tail pipes; replacing shock absorbers and struts; repairing automotive air conditioning; repairing and replacing hydraulic components; and other related work.Service and tune up vehicles by checking and changing fluids and filters, rotating tires, adjusting and replacing belts and hoses, adjusting carburetors and fuel injection systems, adjusting valves and other related spect, repair and adjust diesel power units, hydraulic systems, injection valves and systems.Performs incidental welding operations on municates any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.Use hand tools and specialized heavy equipment tools and instruments.Maintain files of completed work orders, service, and repair by vehicle, and supplies and equipment ordered and used.Maintain tools and clean equipment and work areasProperly dispose of filters, oils and HazMat.Be familiar with the Quality Control/Customer Service Satisfaction Plan (QC/CSP) requirements and perform QC/CS actions as required.May be required to participate in on-call schedule.Perform other related work as assigned.
