Job Description

Standardized Patients report directly to the Director of Clinical Simulation. The major responsibility of this position is to portray all the characteristics of a real patient, simulating the signs and symptoms. Standardized patients will be physically examined by students and faculty as part of the student learning experience and complete some sort of feedback on the student performance following each encounter. Standardized Patients will also play varying roles within the simulation center memorizing scripts or acting as proctors.Located in Henderson, Nevada, approximately twenty-five minutes from the iconic Las Vegas strip, Touro University Nevada is a non-profit medical, health sciences, and education graduate university focused on positively impacting our community in healthcare and education. Please visit the tun.touro.edu/administration/human-resources website where you can see a comprehensive listing of optional benefits and Human Resources contact information.Must be highly dependable and punctualDemonstrate flexibility and reliability with scheduling and assignments especially during the training period, considered first 3-5 months of labs workedPrecisely follow written and verbal instructionProvide constructive feedback to medical students and colleaguesAssist in the training process of other standardized patients when called uponWork in a professional manner when interacting with learners, faculty, supervisors, and peersBe comfortable having repeat non-invasive physical examination maneuvers performed on self for long periods of timeBe willing to wear a hospital gown with only undergarments underneath, while on camera and/or observed live through an observation window or video monitorSimulate all aspects of scenarios, including history of current problem/chief complaint, affect/behavior, and physical findings, in a standardized, accurate, reliable manner, and consistent mannerAccurately and consistently complete checklists, daily cleaning logs of rooms, and training assignmentsAccept ongoing feedback from facilitators/supervisors and incorporate into case simulationBe willing to be audio and videotaped during simulationsMust know how to follow the proper chain of command for the department if/when issues ariseMust have good decision-making skills when immediate supervision is not immediately availableStable internet/cellular data/phone connection to attend meeting in regard to upcoming labs and virtual labsAccountabilityOther duties as assignedEducation: High School Diploma or equivalent is requiredExperience: Medical knowledge and acting skills are preferred but not requiredSkills & Abilities:Strong interpersonal skillsAbility to work with a multitude of personalities closelyAbility to multi-taskAbility to act out ailments for long period of timeKnowledge of anatomy (human body)Strong attention to detailApplication Requirements:Resume & Cover Letter
