Benefits may vary based on state law.The Registered Orthopedic Technician provides assistance to the medical staff in the application, maintenance and removal of casts, traction and other splint or motion devices as ordered. Informs patients/families, staff and students about the use and care of casts and traction devices. Shriners Spokane is looking for a part time Registered Orthopedic Techinician to join the team.The pay range for this position is $18.06-$27.09/hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.Performs direct and indirect patient care activities within the scope of practice of an Orthopedic Technicianand the Outpatient Clinic (OPC) standard of care.Evaluates patients scheduled in the cast clinic. Notes condition of the cast prior to removal and upon removal of cast. inspects the skin for signs of infection, redness or breakdown. Reports observations to the Charge Nurse or Provider.Under direction of the Provider, provides cast and skin care education to patients/families. Participates in reviewing the content of patient informational handouts and ensures that parents/familiesunderstand to expect during procedures.Assists other team members with rooming patients. Evaluates workload of staff within cast clinic and with Charge Nurse approval assigns additionaltasks during down time. Participates in other duties as assigned.Demonstrates competencyin the application, removal, maintenance, modifications of cast, splints and traction. Assists in applying, trimming, bivalve, univalve, of cast and splints in the cast clinic.Sets up and appropriately stores supplies and equipment at the beginning and end of each clinic. Ensures that traction setups are correct and safe prior to the beginning of casting procedures.This is not an all-inclusive list of this job’s responsibilities.
