ELEVATOR MECHANIC

Job Description THIS POSTING IS FOR 10 POSITIONS Under supervision, candidate will inspect, maintain, adjust and repair passenger and freight elevator systems; maintain adequate elevator service to developments; provide safe elevator service to NYCHA residents. Duties shall include, but not be limited to the following: 1. Lubricate and clean all components of hydraulic and electric elevator systems. 2. Make adjustments as required to contactors and controllers in the electrical and hydraulic elements of elevator systems. 3. Inspect and check doors, cable rails, bumpers, safeties, overloads, relays, sheaves and governors to assure continued safe operations. 4. Re-rope and re-wire elevator systems as required. 5. Check out troubles in all types of elevator and escalator systems. 6. Perform necessary adjustments and/or repairs to all elevator mechanical and electrical components and their control systems. 7. Inspect, maintain, adjust and repair escalators, platform lifts, conveyors and dumbwaiters. 8. Operate a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties. Note: Eligible candidates may be required to pass a practical exam evaluating their ability to perform typical Elevator Mechanic tasks (i.e. trouble shooting, wiring door operators, print reading, etc.) Note: License Requirement: At the time of appointment, candidates must possess the following to be considered for these positions: 1. A valid New York State Elevator Mechanic License 2. A valid New York City Elevator Agency Technician License 3. A valid Department of Labor Technician's License 4. Department of Buildings Technician's License 5. Department of Buildings Inspector License (preferred) These licenses must be maintained for the duration of your employment. You will be responsible for the payment of any fees associated with the maintenance of these licenses.
