Requisition ID: 178109 Job Level: Mid Level Home District/Group: Central District Department: Field Operations Market: Transportation Employment Type: Full Time Position Overview We are adding experienced Field Engineers to our Central division of Kiewit to support our growing Infrastructure project portfolio around the country. We are hiring in our Southeastern region to support projects in the Tennessee and Kentucky areas and offer relocation to the region and per diem while on projects outside of the immediate area. As an experience Field Engineer, you will play a significant part in the success of planning, organizing and implementing project engineering & project controls tasks for our heavy civil construction projects that could include major highway infrastructure, bridge projects, rail/transit, aviation, water/wastewater and power. Excellent communication, attention to detail and an ability to work well in a team environment are considered critical to this position. We are looking for individuals with motivation and eagerness to expand their skillset in infrastructure construction. This team is the first construction team to the site, performing site prep for the roads, bridges or industrial buildings. Our team performs mass grading/excavation, cut and fill, drainage, paving, underground piping and utility work, earthwork, site development, concrete form work, asphalt paving, and related activities. District Overview Kiewitu2019s Central District is one of our largest infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, structural concrete/bridge, water/wastewater, and transportation projects. We self-perform work such as mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more - so be ready to get your hands dirty While headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the majority of our work is concentrated in the Central and South-Central regions of the United States. We are looking for people committed to the construction industry rather than design. Location Our southeast office is located in Brentwood Tennessee, and individuals work out of this office, and travel around the region to support projects in TN, KY and NE, and potentially other surrounding states. Must be willing to relocate and travel. Responsibilities Field Engineering: u2022 Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision u2022 Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work u2022 Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages u2022 Assist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data u2022 Assist in compiling, processing, and confirming daily labor timesheets u2022 Assist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHAu2019s) u2022 Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training u2022 Order and schedule material deliveries u2022 Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite u2022 Supervise field operations Office Engineering: u2022 Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications and other contract documents u2022 Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations u2022 Assist Engineers to gather and prepare data for submittal or transmittal to the customer, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and internal use u2022 Participate in the preparation of purchase orders and subcontracts, performing minor solicitations and purchasing as requested u2022 Schedule maintenance and performing updates as directed by others u2022 Assist in the maintenance of basic project recordkeeping and correspondence functions including daily reports, photographs, requests for information (RFIs), and memorandums u2022 Enter data into the job cost system and participate in reviewing cost reports with jobsite management u2022 Assist in generating change orders and as-built data to be reviewed by the Project Manager u2022 Provide field support and supervise subcontractor operations Estimating: u2022 Assist in reviewing and analyzing historical data relative to the project, incorporating various productions and costs appropriate in preparation of a bid u2022 Complete a plan and specification review for an assigned project, assessing the risk areas and bringing them to the attention of the Senior Estimator u2022 Complete material and quantity takeoffs according to bid documents Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in a construction-related field or engineering or similar field, with an interest in developing skills and experience in hands-on, self performed construction with at least 2 years of experience in the construction field, performing functions as outlined above.
