Boat Builder / Marine Craftsman

Scarano Boat Building, known for the design, construction and servicing of strong yet beautiful power and sailing vessels, is seeking skilled marine craftsman to join us and work alongside our experienced team. We are looking for motivated, hard working people open to learning a variety of skills. Self-motivation to succeed is a plus. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience in a variety of trades including carpentry, painting, welding, electrical, plumbing as well as rigging and canvas work. Must be willing to cross train in a variety of trades. Ability to follow direction and work efficiently under supervision as well as solo projects. Good communication skills with ability to collaborate with the team to achieve goals.Previous experience in a construction, manufacturing or boat building environment is a plus. Familiar with hand tools, and power tools. You do not need to have your own power tools, we will provide you with what you need to be successful. All PPE including fit testing and 3M respirator provided on sightDetermining base salary and or pay rate, is based off several factors to be considered as applicable. (Years of relevant experience, education, credentials) Scarano Boat Building has been servicing and building the finest power and sail boats since 1985. Working for our small local family-owned business, you will get to be part of crafting and servicing unique one of a kind Scarano built boat that are located from New York to Florida and California. Area of responsibilities include but not limited to:-Assist in all phases of boat construction from layout to finish-Work with fiberglass, wood, composite material, steel and aluminum-Follow design plans and safety guidelines-Maintain a clean and organized workspace.-Attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship.You are a great fit for this role if:-You are skilled in reading and interpreting blueprints.-Reliable and eager to learn-Good working knowledge of wood working tools and machinery-Basic welding skills-Skilled in two-part epoxy and epoxy paints.-Math proficiency.-Lift and carry over 60 lbs on an occasional basis-Moderate physical demand occasionally lifting or moving heavy material and working in difficult positions. (standing or kneeling for long periods of time)-Must be able to lift bend kneel, stoop push and pull.-Requires work under disagreeable conditions where such elements as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, noise cold, water, and chemicals may be present.
