Powell is an engineered to order manufacturer of switchgear and electrical equipment for the power generation industry. The Assembler ensures quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality. Four 10s Schedule: Monday-Thursday 2:30pm-1:00am Position Summary An Assembler is responsible for putting together components or parts to create finished products. They follow blueprints, work instructions, or diagrams to assemble products using various tools and equipment. Assemblers may work in manufacturing or production environments and may be required to perform quality checks and ensure that products meet specifications. They may also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area and reporting any issues or defects to supervisors. Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work as part of a team are important skills for an Assembler. The Assembler will report to the Manufacturing Supervisor of the Assembly department, and will be responsible for assembling electrical units, switchgear and other Powell products. Supervision None Essential Responsibilities u2022Build and assemble mechanical components for Switchgear and/or Breaker units according to engineering drawings and customer specifications. u2022Perform maintenance and proper use of tools. u2022Perform in process inspections; ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality. u2022Perform all ship prep functions including splitting gear. u2022Promote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings. u2022Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized. Minimum Qualifications u2022Minimum education level of a High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent Diploma is preferred. u2022Ability to read a tape measure (including conversions from fraction to decimal and conversely from decimal to fraction and metric to imperial). u2022Basic knowledge of a variety of hand/power tools. u2022Lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques. Preferred Qualifications u2022Basic computer knowledge considered an asset. u2022Basic command of the English language, both written and verbal. u2022Prior ability or interest in building or repairing mechanical components considered an asset. u2022Read and understand spec sheets and follow proper use of hardware by spec requirements. u2022Basic knowledge of one line and three-line drawings. u2022Safety training certificates are an asset for the position.
