The target range the 3 level is $30.00 to $35.00. The full pay range for the Renewable Energy Tech 4 is $28.00 - $47.00 per hour. The target range for 4 level is $33.00.00 to $38.00We generally base our salary decisions on factors such as internal equity, candidate work and/leadership experience, educational credentials, and in some cases, candidate work location.EDF power solutions is seeking experience individuals to join our team as a Renewable Energy Technician level 3 or level 4—based on their experience, advanced skills, and leadership capabilities.Candidates will be placed at the level Technician 3 or Technician 4 commensurate with their experience, qualifications, and successful completion of internal competency standards.About the RoleUnder the direction of the Site Manager or designee, you will be responsible for the unsupervised maintenance, troubleshooting, major repair, installation, and commissioning of utility-scale renewable energy assets, including PV (Photovoltaics) and BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems). All positions require in-depth knowledge of safety procedures, technical documentation, and a commitment to operational excellence. The exact duration will be determined based on experience and qualifications. The training is in Albert Lea, MN, and travel, accommodation, and expenses will be provided.Distinct Role ResponsibilitiesWhile both roles perform critical field maintenance, the Technician 4 role requires a higher degree of technical mastery, leadership, and supervisory responsibility.Responsibility AreaRenewable Energy Technician 3 (Senior)Renewable Energy Technician 4 (Expert/Lead)Maintenance ScopePerforms unsupervised routine and corrective maintenance and troubleshooting on renewable energy assets.Performs unsupervised advanced corrective and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and leads major repairs on various assets.Technical SkillsFocus on Routine Testing and troubleshooting electrical systems. Proficient with advanced diagnostic tools.Focus on Advanced Testing and troubleshooting electrical systems and performing live electrical work. Possesses in-depth knowledge of all advanced testing equipment.High Voltage (HV) SystemsPerforms inspection and preventative maintenance on HV systems.Performs inspection and preventative maintenance on HV systems, including substation collection and distribution systems and NERC required maintenances.Leadership/TrainingMay lead teams on routine tasks and train/oversee Technicians 1 and 2.Trains and signs off on the competency of Technicians 1 through 3. Assists with overseeing daily activities and may oversee site crews and contractors in the absence of a manager or lead.Continuous ImprovementWorks with engineering teams and subject matter experts on upgrades and retrofits.Collaborates with engineering teams as a subject matter expert to support a continuous improvement environment.Shared Key Responsibilities (Applicable to both Tech 3 & 4)Perform unsupervised corrective and preventative maintenance on utility-scale renewable energy assets and energy storage systems (BESS/PV).Conduct commissioning and recommissioning activities including insulation testing, performance testing (IV curve, irradiance), thermal imagery, and system performance evaluations.Lead site safety assessments, team engagement visits, and equipment inspections.Lead daily safety meetings, identify hazards, follow all safety regulations, and accurately complete required safety documentation.Accurately complete all administrative work, including daily maintenance logs, warranty/inventory documentation, service reports, and timecards.Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for system monitoring, fault identification, and system resets.Support site budget control by seeking efficiencies and timely repairs to decrease operating loss factor (OLF).Education & ExperienceRequired: High School Diploma or equivalent.Technician 3: Minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience in renewable energy or a similar technical discipline.Technician 4: Minimum of 5 years of in-depth renewable energy experience or a similar technical discipline.Required Certifications (Applicable to both Tech 3 & 4)OSHA 10 or equivalent certification.Global Wind Organization (GWO) certifications: Basic Safety Training (BST), Basic Technical Training (BTT), Control of Hazardous Energies (CoHE), and Slinger and Signaler (If applicable to asset type).NFPA 70E and NFPA 70B or equivalent certification.Skills, Knowledge, & AbilitiesMust possess a valid current driver’s license.Proficiency in using advanced diagnostic tools, understanding system software, and familiarity with the latest industry standards.Deep competency in the theory of Renewable Energy systems, sub-components, and generation theory.Advanced knowledge of electrical safety, arc flash standards, and National Electric Code (NEC) requirements.Ability to read and understand complex electrical and mechanical schematics, drawings, technical data, and construction documents.Working knowledge of industry-related OSHA regulations and experience with company software (SaaS, DAS, CMMS, Microsoft Suite, etc.).Ability to communicate clearly, write, and speak in English.Technician 4 Additional Skills: Must have an advanced working knowledge of solar industry best practices and the ability to effectively coach, instruct, and train less experienced technicians.Physical Requirements & Working ConditionsThe role requires the ability to perform physical tasks, including but not limited to:Regularly lifting and/or moving up to 35 pounds and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.Ability to stand, crouch, walk, and work for extended periods.Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and structures to heights of more than 91 meters (300 feet).Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces. (Note: Due to fall-arrest equipment, maximum employee weight must not exceed 285 lbs. for Wind-related roles).Working ConditionsTechnician 3: Approximately 100% of time is spent working in the renewable asset field.Technician 4: Approximately 80% of time is spent working in the renewable asset field, with 20% in the office environment.Regular exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, wind), high voltage/stored energy, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
