Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. The Otolaryngologist will provide consultation and care for our patients in the Department of Surgery. Major duties include, but are not limited to: Evaluates and treat patients for any disease that needs ENT surgery and/or treatment to achieve palliation or cure. Screen outpatients and inpatients to determine need for further care. Performs initial histories and physical examinations on inpatients and outpatients, as well as major and minor surgical procedures. Prescribe medications, order diagnostic studies such as lab tests, x-rays, electrocardiograms (EKGs) and CT scans. Provides educational instruction and training for UCSF Fresno residents/fellows assigned to Surgery rotations at the VA, and makes sure that the robust educational curriculum is followed to meet the educational needs of post-graduate training program. Meets the needs of customers while supporting the medical center and service missions. Consistently communicates and treats customers (patients, visitors, volunteers, and all medical center staff) in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.
