OverviewJob Title: UX Design Lab, Senior Industrial Packaging DesignerDivision: Development and Packaging North America (Operations)Location: Clark, New JerseyReports To: UX Design Lab, DirectorWe are seeking a Senior Industrial Packaging Designer within the UX Design Lab to shape the future of L’Oréal's packaging by delivering an elevated, innovative experience through design—desirability and sensoriality, new usage experiences and functionalities, sustainability, and emotionally compelling packaging. This role is based in Clark, New Jersey, and involves collaboration with a diverse team of marketing professionals, engineers, product developers, laboratory experts, and external suppliers. Your work will directly impact the innovation pipeline by ensuring packaging is aesthetically pleasing, intelligent, sustainable, and technically feasible.ResponsibilitiesConsumer-Centric Design: Analyze consumer needs and behaviors to create packaging solutions that meet expectations and enhance experience.Aesthetic & Creative Excellence: Leverage brand DNA to design stunning packaging that elevates consumer experience.Trend Forecasting: Stay abreast of cosmetic and competitive trends; critically evaluate packaging and identify opportunities for innovation.Sustainable Solutions: Explore eco-responsible materials and manufacturing processes aligned with sustainability goals.Technical Feasibility: Collaborate with engineers and product developers to ensure designs are technically feasible, cost-effective, and manufacturable.Design Thinking Leadership: Lead and participate in Design Thinking workshops and Design Sprints; conduct co-creation workshops with consumers.Prototyping & Supplier Collaboration: Create and test prototypes using rapid prototyping techniques; maintain relationships with suppliers to explore new materials and technologies.Research & Innovation projects: Engage in upstream R&I driven innovations with Advanced Engineering and R&I Development Labs; packaging labs collaborations (e.g., Packaging Labs, Technical Design Center, Packaging Science Center).Brand projects: Drive brand-driven innovations incorporating elevated experiences and sustainability through design.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Develop and animate connections with Operational teams, Research & Innovation, and Brands; lead local UX Design projects within the global portfolio.External Partnerships: Collaborate with design agencies or freelancers and identify fast prototyping partners for mock-ups.We Are Looking For / QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Architecture, or related field required.5-7 years of experience in Product Design, preferably in beauty or consumer products.Expertise with 2D and 3D design programs:• 2D: Illustrator, Photoshop• 3D: Rhinoceros, KeyShot, SolidworksIn-depth knowledge of consumer insights, user journeys, and makeup/skincare/haircare trends; packaging techniques and engineering constraints; color, material, and finish considerations in design.Creative skills and design thinking; collaborative leadership; project management; prioritization and organizational skills.Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work in a collaborative environment.Demonstrated L’Oréal competencies: Leadership, Entrepreneurial Management, Achiever, and Innovator.Bi-lingual (French) a plus.Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis (no sponsorship required now or in the future).Onsite presence required at NY/NJ sites as an essential function.What’s In It For YouOpportunities to grow beyond your comfort zone with real responsibility from day clusive environment that values diversity and celebrates individuality.Chance to contribute to brands with societal and environmental petitive benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, Pension).Base salary range: $90,200 - $128,500; actual compensation depends on factors such as location, experience, and skill.Hybrid work policy (3 days in office, up to 2 days work from home).Flexible time off (paid holidays, vacation, volunteer time, etc.).Perks and development opportunities (internal shop discounts, learning programs, mentorship, etc.).Employee resource groups and wellness programs.We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and value diversity in our workforce.
