Work involves installing, repairing, maintaining, overhauling and servicing base equipment and component parts in units such as HVAC and power distribution systems. Performs general maintenance work in all areas of the building trades, such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, etc. May provide guidance to others. Reports to the R-VI Camp Mabry HVAC Supervisor and works under general supervision, with limited latitude for t e use of initiative and independent judgment.WORK HOURS: Tuesdayand#8211; Friday, 10 hours a day, 40 hours a weekESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITYOverhauls and services HVAC equipment.Overhauls pumps, air compressors and circulating pumps associated with HVAC equipment and systems.Repairs and replaces worn or broken parts on condensers, compressors and water and vacuum pumps.Repairs or adjusts valves, piping connections, fittings and couplings.Tests refrigeration equipment for refrigerant leaks.Removes and installs motors, thermostats and humidistats.Adjusts expansion valves and adds gas to refrigerant units.Checks gauges and performs preventive maintenance work.Performs inspections of equipment, operating machinery, systems and building accessories and appliances to ensure proper maintenance and repair.Maintains Direct Digital Control (DDC) equipment.Identifies mechanical problems and determines how to fix the problems.Troubleshoots malfunctions and repairs equipment.Maintains records on work orders or projects and prepares reports on maintenance and HVAC repairs and services.Changes out inoperative air conditioning and heating equipment.Maintains and repairs buildings, utility systems, stationary equipment and boiler system.Operates motorized equipment.May plan and oversee the installation of HVAC systems.May provide guidance to others.May be required to perform duty in support of national emergencies, disasters and other missions, to include evenings, holidays and weekends.Performs related work as assigned.Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION:Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent (GED) is required.EXPERIENCE:Three years' experience installing, repairing, and/or maintaining heating, ventilation, cooling, and refrigeration equipment/systems is required.Experience with Microsoft Office, to include Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint is required.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Experience maintaining and/or repairing chiller systems preferred.Experience in all areas of the building trade is also preferred.Experience working in the military and/or National Guard environment is preferred.REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE:HVAC technician certification registered through Texas Department of Licensing Regulation (TDLR) is required.Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification will be required within the first 180 days of employment.Valid driver license is required. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct agency businessOTHER REQUIREMENTS:Background Investigation. Selected candidate must be able to obtain a CAC and/or pass a federal security background investigation. The process includes a National Agency Check and Inquiry (NACI) and fingerprinting. New employees must complete and sign the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Form SF85. Completed forms are submitted to the OPM for the background investigations.Eligibility to Work in the U.S. The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 require all new employees to present proof of eligibility to work in the United States within three (3) days of being hired. The Texas Military Department participates in E-Verify and will provide the Social Security Administration (SSA) and, if necessary, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with information from each new employee's Form I-9 to confirm work authorization. All offers of employment are contingent upon the candidate having and maintaining legal authorization to work in the United States
