Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking a scientist/environmental engineer/ to support our team of EHS professionals/EHS Compliance specialists delivering EHS and sustainability solutions to commercial, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, power, and other industrial clients. The position includes completion of EHS projects through each stage of our client’s facility life cycle - including business and property acquisition due diligence, industrial facility operational compliance, auditing, environmental assessment/evaluation, and facility decommissioning and divestiture. Your Key Responsibilities Responsibilities are anticipated to include but are not limited to the following: - With support from a Stantec Project Manager and EHS professionals, perform projects for our clients. Projects may include:- Regulatory compliance reporting assistance (emissions inventory, Tier II, TRI, etc.). - EHS due diligence, Phase I ESAs, and environmental assessment, in support of business and property acquisitions. - EHS regulatory compliance assessments and audits at client facilities and where clients perform field activities. - On-site EHS support at client facilities including completion of routine inspections, development of EHS programs, and correction of deficiencies in accordance with OSHA, DOT, federal, municipal, and/or state environmental regulations. - Technical consulting for clients on regulatory compliance matters including permit management, Clean Water Act, routine regulatory reporting (i.e., air, hazardous waste [RCRA and non-RCRA], EPCRA, etc.), industrial hygiene, and industrial safety. - Energy and water use efficiency evaluations and implementation of improved sustainability measures. - EHS support during facility decommissioning, decontamination, and divestiture. Stantec anticipates the following career growth expectations associated with this role: - Support business relationships with a focus on clients in the Upper-Midwest and Great Lakes Region. - Additional commitment to supporting multi-national corporations and their global relations, to generate opportunities for Stantec worldwide. - Support the response to requests for proposals generated through Stantec business relationships and as identified by Stantec Account and Client Managers. - Support and coordinate with a team of EHS consulting professionals. - Some direct client interaction and accountability. Support multiple clients and assume responsibilities for delivering high quality work to Stantec clients. Your Capabilities and Credentials - A qualified candidate will have direct relevant experience supporting all aspects of EHS, including but not limited to, due diligence, auditing, and compliance assurance; EHS procedures development and training; air quality, wastewater, chemical management, bulk liquid storage, and waste handling; industrial hygiene, environmental assessment; and industrial safety compliance. - Travel may be required for the purpose of conducting EHS assessments, on-site EHS support, or for off-site meetings with clients and/or regulatory agencies – up to 25%. - Practical ability to analyze technical data, perform research, demonstrate technical knowledge, and problem solve. - Strong organizational and communications skills (able to communicate solutions in writing, verbally and graphically). - Straightforward, hard (but smart) working, client-dedicated, and practical approach. - Participation in EHS audits to local, state, and federal regulations. - Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint. - OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training preferred. - Prior to and/or during employment, this position may require the successful passing of a pre-employment physical and drug screen. Education and Experience - A BS in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field. - Minimum of 1 to 3 years related experience. - Experience in electronic manufacturing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and industrial sector projects. - Field experience is preferred, with preference for industrial EHS compliance experience and environmental assessment implementation and oversight. - Experience with sustainability, including energy efficiency in industrial processes, greenhouse gas emissions reduction, delivering water reuse and recycling solutions, and supporting sustainable supply chain capacity building is helpful, as well as exposure to facility closure, site investigation and land remediation services is beneficial. Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
