Assistant County Attorney 1

Overview: The County of Sullivan is seeking an Assistant County Attorney 1 in Monticello, NY. The Assistant County Attorney 1 involves the responsibility for providing legal counsel and representation to the County Legislature, County Manager, and other Commissioners, Department Heads, Officers and Employees and the County Sheriff's Office. Work is performed under the general direction of the County Attorney, and in accordance with overall policies of the Department, with latitude for the exercise of independent judgement in applying legal knowledge to specific problems. Must have at least 3 years of litigation experience with responsibility for employment-related matters, including human resource issues and Civil Service administrative proceedings through appeal, as well as contract preparation, negotiation and review. Must have familiarity with real property transactions as well as Municipal Law preferred. Requirements: Applicants must be admitted and in good standing with the NY State Bar at the time of appointment. Valid NY State Driver's License 3 years' experience as stated above Shift, Salary, and Benefits: This is a Full-Time position, Monday-Friday, $105,000-$125,000, Benefits include Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Paid Vacation, Paid Sick Leave, Holidays and New York State Retirement Background Investigation: Applicant may be required to undergo a State and National criminal history background investigation, which will include a fingerprint check, to determine suitability for appointment.
