Yes County Albany Street Address State Campus, Bldg 12, Flr 3 City Albany State NY Zip Code 12226 Duties Description ITS provides operational support to state agencies on a 24x7x365 basis; some positions may be required to provide this critical service at any time.Under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner for Technology (DCT) for DOL the incumbent will be the Director of Client Compute and Internet of Things (IoT) for the Dedicated Support Team for DOL. They will be accountable for the service level agreements and metrics by which each service area is measured. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:u2022 Lead the design, development, oversight and vision, for DOLs Client Computing and IoT in consultation with CTO teams and provide input into solutions and standards;u2022 Govern performance of Client Compute and IoT teams through team meetings, review of strategic goals and progress plans. Develop, implement, and maintain the overall management and direction of the units' operations; the managerial, supervisory, and support staff;u2022 Configure, assign, and monitor priorities, schedules, assignments, workloads, and staffing levels to insure peak operational efficiency. Ensure teams have the tools and bandwidth necessary to complete assigned functions;u2022 Direct and facilitate continuous process improvements to deliver all Client Compute and IoT solutions quickly and reliably; u2022 Identifying areas for improvement and implementing plans to address gaps in policies and/or procedures as needed;u2022 Collaborate and interface with DOL and ITS Leadership on new Agency and Enterprise client compute needs;u2022 Manage standards and enable subordinate staff in development, implementation, and maintenance of technical designs and procedures in the delivery of client compute and IoT solutions to Agency projects;u2022 Contribute to leadership meetings with ITS and Agency management in coordination and support of large projects;u2022 Work with the DCT in developing and maintaining the annual personal and non-personal services budget and spending plan for this area;u2022 Interact with internal and external clients, senior executives, to identify, analyze and prioritize business initiatives, enhancements, and issues;u2022 Contribute crucial technical and in-depth business knowledge as senior subject matter expert;u2022 Play an active role in staff development through assignments, training, guidance, and mentoring;u2022 Function as a senior level lead on-call, requiring on-call availability to address priority 1 issues within DOL, and participate in resolution of major disruptions, malfunctions, and recurring problems which impact agency operations;u2022 Perform the full range of managerial and supervisory duties.Preferred qualifications:u2022 Five years of progressive experience in technology leadership, particularly in the following areas: end user support, automated software distribution/patching, virtual desktop platform support, setting configuration standards, supporting and configuring IoT devices and solutions.u2022 Two or more years of senior leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams.u2022 Excellent interpersonal skills: able to work across business lines at senior levels to influence and effect change to achieve common goals.u2022 Analytical skills: outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities with an understanding of statistical analytics and how data is used to enable informed decision making, identify opportunities for better business outcomes.u2022 Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain digital concepts and technologies to business leaders, as well as business concepts to technologists; able to sell ideas and process internally at all levels.u2022 Proven record of effective leadership, including the ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; building teams and consensus; getting things done through others not directly under their supervision; working ethically and with integrity.Expected Travel to be 10% yearly. Minimum Qualifications Eight years of experience in computer science, information technology, or a related field, including two years of supervisory experience or one year of managerial experience. The following degrees may substitute for the general experience as indicated: u2022 Associateu2019s degree and seven years of experience.u2022 Associateu2019s degree including 15 semester credit hours in computer science and six years of experience.u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree and six years of experience.u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree including 15 semester credit hours in computer science and five years of experience.u2022 Masteru2019s degree in computer science or related field substitutes for an additional year of experience.u2022 Doctorate in computer science or related field substitutes for an additional 2 years of experience.
