Under the general direction of the Wellness Director and consistent with the mission and the policies and procedures set forth by the YMCA of Catawba Valley, the Fitness Floor Attendant/Wellness Staff is responsible for all aspects of instructing, supervising, and reinforcing proper fitness techniques in the Fitness Center. As a member of the professional staff, the Wellness Staff member is a constructive member of the YMCA whose major priority is to serve the members of the YMCA with the highest quality of programming and facilities available.This job announcement is not intended to be inclusive of all functions, responsibilities and qualifications associated with the position, however, representative of the essential job functions and typical criteria considered necessary to successfully perform the position. The Wellness Staff will be primarily responsible for the following duties:Conducting fitness instruction and orientationsCritiquing, educating, and demonstrating proper techniques and formMaintaining a neat, clean, and pleasant environment in the Fitness CenterAssisting in the implementation of the YMCA’s Coaching Connection Program when applicableAssisting the Healthy Living Director in the design, implementation, and promotion of programs with the Fitness CenterImplement Daxko Engage tools and tasksPromoting YMCA programs and healthy living through personal example and member interactionInsuring that all members are following rules, educating members on new information regarding fitness and related topicsAttending scheduled Fitness Center staff meetingsAny other duties assigned by the Wellness Director, Manager on Duty, or Executive Director.Personal commitment to YMCA ideals.Knowledge of strength and cardiovascular training principles.First Aid and CPR Certifications as well as AED, required YMCA Health and Wellness Courses within 6 months of employmentA high level of enthusiasm.Strong interpersonal relation skills.Knowledge of emergency policies and procedures for the facility.Understanding of risk management issues and safety requirements for the facility.Must have good communication and organizational skills.Employee Assistance ProgramRetirement ContributionOUR YMCA CULTURE:Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture.
