The Materials Management Technician is responsible for the receipt, storage, and distribution of medical supplies, equipment, and materials within the healthcare facility. This role ensures that all departments have the necessary supplies for daily operations and patient care by maintaining accurate inventory levels, processing orders, and communicate with vendors. The Materials Management Technician plays a vital role in the efficient operation of the Materials Management Department, contributing to high-quality patient care.Essential DutiesReceive incoming shipments of medical supplies, equipment, and other materials, verifying the accuracy of orders against packing slips and purchase orders.Inspect deliveries for damage, defects, or discrepancies, and report any issues to the supervisor or purchasing department.Properly document receipt of goods and maintain accurate records in the inventory management system.Maintain organized and accurate inventory levels of medical supplies, equipment, and materials in storage areas.Conduct regular cycle counts, physical inventory checks, and reconciliation to ensure inventory accuracy.Monitor stock levels and communicate with purchasing as needed to prevent shortages.Distribute supplies and materials to various departments and units within the healthcare facility according to established protocols and schedules.Ensure that stock is rotated to minimize waste and that storage areas are kept clean, organized, and compliant with safety and infection control standards.Respond promptly to urgent supply requests and deliver materials as needed to support patient care and departmental operations.Maintain accurate inventory records, including receipts, distributions, adjustments, and returns, in the inventory management system.Assist with the preparation of supply requisitions, purchase orders, and other related documents as required.Receive and deliver medical equipment to proper locations.Break down and stock supply carts as needed for various departments.Ability to safely operate pallet jacks.Ensure all supplies and pallet jacks are stored in compliance with regulatory and safety standards.Work closely with clinical and non-clinical staff to understand their supply needs and provide timely and accurate support.Communicate effectively with internal departments, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure efficient supply chain operations.Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and resolving issues related to materials management.Follow all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to materials management, safety, and infection control.Participate in safety and quality improvement initiatives to enhance materials management operations.Report any safety hazards, incidents, or near misses to the supervisor immediately.Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving areaDemonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.Required ExperienceStrong organizational, time management, and communication skills.Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds and perform tasks that require standing, walking, or bending for extended periods.Preferred ExperienceMinimum of 1-2 years of experience in materials management, inventory control, or a related role, preferably in a healthcare setting.Required Licensure/EducationHigh school diploma or equivalentEmployee Health RequirementsExposure/Sensory RequirementsExposure to:Chemicals: NoneVideo Display Terminals: AverageBlood and Body Fluids: Occasional transport of lab specimens in zip lock bags.
