King,Pierce and Peninsula Regions!Job Summary:This job is responsible, under the direction of a Registered Nurse or other Healthcare Provider, forproviding quality practical nursing care to clinic patients consistent with the scope of LPN licensure andFranciscan Medical Group (FMG) Scope of Practice Policy. An incumbent assists providers with patientclinic visits, carrying out routine aspects of designated nursing protocols and provides clinical support andrelated assistance to professional medical staff.LPN’s participate in patient care planning, assisting with and/or performing therapeutic/diagnosticprocedures/tests, reporting nursing observations/assessments and updating information in the patient’selectronic medical record.An employee uses initiative in carrying out recurring tasks independently within scope of practice andestablished standards of care. An RN or Provider provides specific instructions for new or more complextasks and is consulted when unusual/unfamiliar situations are encountered.Work involves effectively managing a demanding workload and requires excellent customer service skillswith patients/families, multi-disciplinary team members, practitioners and the public.If assigned to the centralized FMG Float Pool, an incumbent provides patient care services to theassigned clinic/work unit as needed to meeting staffing needs.Essential Job Duties:● Greet and prepare patients for practitioner. Provide patient mobility assistance, as necessary.Obtain and record vital signs and other appropriate information, such as height, weight, drugallergies, current medications and presenting problem. Anticipates the needs of the patient andthe practitioner during the exam. May include chaperone and documentation of the patient exam,ensuring patient privacy and comfort.● Telephone and in-person contact to screen, gather information, communicates and responds topatient needs appropriately; ensuring documentation of the phone call meets standards.● Administer ordered medications via oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intradermal, or sublingualroutes. Start IV’s, maintain and administer IV fluids/meds as ordered by provider.● Under supervision of the practitioner, inform patients of lab results, process prescriptions topharmacies and return practitioners’ phone messages. Ensure that the patient or familyunderstands follow-up and referral information. Provide general health education within own levelof expertise and as directed by practitioner and nurse supervisor;● Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms cleanand orderly; dispose of contaminated items according to Franciscan Medical Group ExposureControl Plan; anticipate Practitioner's needs for medications, supplies and equipment and planaccordingly.● Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures to appropriate level of training and establishedprocedures. Ensure patient privacy and comfort during the exam; instruct patients in the collectionof samples and other tests.● Actively participate in continuing education and meetings; participates in committees asrequested; and participants in professional development activities and maintains professionalaffiliations.● Exhibits and adheres to CommonSpirit Health's Core Values of Reverence, Integrity,Compassion and Excellence.#MISSIONCRITICALEducation and Work Experience:● Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing approved by the Washington StateBoard of Nursing. ● One year LPN work experience in a clinic setting OR two years of acute care LPN workexperience preferred. Licensure/Certifications:● Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Washington State Board of Nursing.● Current Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.● If assigned to the Float Pool, current driver’s license and ability to drive to assigned location(s).
