Salary: $45,000/yearTitle: Youth Advocate, STL Summer Jobs, Jobs League, & Skill-UpClassification: Non-ExemptScope of Position: To provide support and assistance to youth participants enrolled in the STL Summer Jobs, Job Leagues and Skill-Up programs related to gaining and/or retaining employment and career advancement. This position requires an organized individual who can efficiently handle several responsibilities simultaneously.Essential Functions:· Provide individualized basic skills assessment and identify employment goals based on career interest, ability and personal development considerations· Develop Individual Services Strategy in conjunction with youth· Assist youth in accomplishing the goals of the Individual Service Strategy· Build one-on-one working relationships with youth to assist in mitigating challenges to obtaining and retaining employment· Facilitate educational activities in individual and group settings to remediate basic skills and increase functional educational levels· Conduct innovative and engaging workshops· Assist youth in navigating the American Job Centers in an effort to maximize the employment resources in their community· Provide comprehensive case management and follow-up to ensure positive outcomes and goals are met as required by contract· Provide referrals to appropriate community service or social service agencies as needed· Establish detailed documentation of all client records to maintain organized database and generate all project reports as needed· Provide regular updates to Youth Program Coordinator· Other opportunities as availableEducation and Experience Requirements:· Bachelor's degree in business, education, human services, human resources or related area is preferred· Must have experience working with at-risk youth· Ability to work independently as well as function effectively as a team· Ability to prioritize tasks and document visits and contacts· Excellent written and verbal communication skills· Excellent follow-through when corresponding with partners, staff and customers· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications· Valid driver’s license & clean driving record required
