Description We are looking for an experienced Cost Accountant to join our team in Fishkill, New York. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing cost accounting systems, analyzing financial data, and ensuring accurate inventory reporting. Your expertise will contribute to strategic decision-making and process improvements in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities: u2022 Maintain and analyze cost accounting systems, including standard costs and overhead allocations, to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies. u2022 Manage inventory accounting processes, including valuation, reconciliation, and cycle counts, to support precise financial reporting. u2022 Conduct variance analyses, such as comparing standard costs to actual costs, and provide actionable insights to drive cost reductions. u2022 Collaborate with operations and supply chain teams to monitor inventory movements, optimize processes, and identify inefficiencies. u2022 Prepare and review comprehensive financial reports related to costs of goods sold (COGS) and inventory, ensuring timely submissions. u2022 Support budget preparation, forecasting, and financial modeling for inventory and related expenses. u2022 Ensure adherence to relevant accounting standards, policies, and procedures in all cost accounting practices. u2022 Contribute to system implementation or upgrades, focusing on inventory management and cost accounting software. u2022 Provide detailed financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic planning and operational improvements. Requirements u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; certifications such as CPA or CMA are a plus. u2022 Minimum of 3 years of experience in cost accounting, with a focus on inventory management. u2022 Strong understanding of accounting principles and standards, particularly related to cost and inventory. u2022 Proficiency in accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite, along with advanced Excel skills. u2022 Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. u2022 Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and present financial data clearly. u2022 Experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment is preferred. u2022 Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
