Maintenance Technician Job Description We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and perform periodic maintenance on a variety of equipment used in plastic extrusion. This includes extruders, controls, drives, gearboxes, pneumatics, and more. The role requires diagnosing mechanical and electrical failures to their root cause and making necessary repairs while recommending procedural or equipment changes to prevent recurrence. Essential Skills + At least 5 years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment. + Demonstrated knowledge of 3 phase and single phase 480 V power. + Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs. + Ability to perform mechanical and electrical calculations, including Ohm's law. + Experience with multi-meters, amp meters, and welding equipment. Responsibilities + Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and perform maintenance on extruders, controls, drives, gearboxes, pneumatics, and hydraulics. + Diagnose mechanical and electrical failures, identifying root causes and making repairs. + Safely troubleshoot and repair electrical components, including heaters, SSRs, VFDs, contactors, and relays. + Troubleshoot control loops with AC, DC, or mA control signals; read and interpret electrical prints and diagrams. + Align equipment using magnetic dial indicator and straight-edge methods. + Perform maintenance and repair on overhead cranes and mobile equipment. + Operate forklifts and work comfortably at heights and in tight spaces. Work Environment Work in a manufacturing plant located in North Houston, near Bush Airport. The plant operates 24/7 in a fast-paced environment, working with plastic manufacturing equipment. During summer, temperatures can exceed 100 degrees, requiring resilience and adaptability. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of HOUSTON, Texas. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
