The Capitol Riverfront Business Improvement District is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization that provides place management services that assist in creating a neighborhood that is clean, safe, accessible, unique, friendly, and vibrant. The BID actively collaborates and forms partnerships to achieve the vision for the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood and supports the development of the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood as a new downtown on the banks of the Anacostia River in Washington DC. Position Overview: The Capitol Riverfront BID is seeking an individual to join our Special Projects Team, a group of detail specialists dedicated to maintaining the pristine appearance of the neighborhood. The individuals will play a crucial role in ensuring our spaces remain clean, safe, and hazard-free by utilizing their skill sets to perform specialized maintenance tasks. This is an at-will position subject to a 90-day probationary period. Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: 1. General and Public Space Maintenance: * Pressure washing of exterior surfaces to remove gum, graffiti, and other residue using a mobile pressure washing unit. * Excess trash removal and graffiti abatement * Public space project installation * Inspect and repair benches, trash receptacles, and other street furniture as needed * Support park operations and maintenance 2. Landscape Maintenance: * Routine lawn maintenance and watering * Plant seasonal flowers and plants to enhance the visual appeal. * Maintain rain gardens, bioswales, and other green infrastructure. 3. Community Events Support: * Assist in setting up and cleaning up after community events. * Coordinate with event organizers to ensure public spaces are utilized responsibly. * Holiday Décor Assembly 4. Administration: * Work Documentation and Reporting: Document all daily tasks and submit reports on completed work and any unresolved issues to BID management. * Incident Reporting: Identify and report issues such as broken sidewalks, malfunctioning streetlights, and damaged signage via 311 and the BID's asset management system. Also, report any public safety hazards or incidents to 911 or the proper points of contact. * Communication: Maintain clear and timely communication with team members and management. Ensure that any operational or safety concerns are escalated to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner. * Neighborhood Ambassador: Actively engage with visitors and residents with a welcoming attitude, providing directions, information about CRBID events, and assistance as needed. * Work Environment: This position's duties are based primarily in the public realm, but occasionally it will be office-based. * Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional tasks as directed to ensure the continued use of Capitol Riverfront's public spaces in a clean and safe manner. Qualifications * Education/Experience: High School Diploma or GED or two years work experience in a related field required. Experience in public space maintenance, landscaping, or construction. Building systems/MEP knowledge is a plus * Driving: Driver's license and a clean driving record; experience with driving a truck with a trailer; CDL possession is a plus * Skills: Strong communication and customer service skills, ability to work in all weather conditions, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety in public spaces. * Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand and walk for extended periods, and perform physical tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
