We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Building Inspector I to perform on-site inspections, verify code compliance, and ensure safe and high-quality construction practices. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop technical expertise, gain valuable field experience, and grow within the industry.The Threshold Inspector is responsible for examining and evaluating buildings, structures and construction projects to ensure compliance with local, state and federal building codes, regulations and standards. The role will perform inspections at various stages of construction to verify that the materials, techniques, and workmanship meet the required thresholds for safety and quality.Conducting on-site inspections of buildings and construction projects at different phases of developmentEvaluating structural components, materials, foundations and systems to ensure compliance with building codes and standardsVerifying that construction practices align with approved plans and specificationsIdentifying and document deviations from regulations and recommending corrective actionsMaintaining detailed inspection records, including photographs, reports, and notesPreparing comprehensive inspection reports outlining findings, observations, and recommendationsCommunicating inspection results effectively to managers as necessaryStaying updated with changes in building codes and regulations, ensuring complianceCollaborating with engineers and other construction professionals to address compliance issuesProviding guidance and support to junior inspectors and construction teams on compliance mattersEnsuring testing equipment used is functioning properly maintained as per policiesMaintaining accurate and current inspection recordsExercising tact and courtesy when conducting inspections and dealing with clientsDrives to various job sites at locations locally and statewide following all driving lawsAttending department meetings and following safety procedures and policiesWorking in varying shift schedules, including weekends and overnight shifts as neededTravel within Florida as requiredComplete daily time and labor reports promptlyOther duties may be assignedLicensure as a professional engineer or architect, orGraduation from a four-year engineering education program in civil, structural or architectural engineering, orPossession of a professional Architecture degree, orRegistration as a building inspector or general contractor, orFour years of Threshold Building inspection training on non-Threshold Buildings performed under the supervision of a Special Inspector who was in responsible charge of the trainee’s work, orPossess certification (s) in the following area (s):Certification from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) - concrete construction special inspectionCertification from the International Code Council (ICC) - structural masonry special inspectionCertification from the Port-Tensioning Institute (PTI) - post-tensioning inspectionCertification from the International Code Council or American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) - structural steel special inspectionCertification from the International Code Council (ICC) - basic soil special inspectionValid Florida Driver’s License with acceptable driving record (in accordance with our Driver’s License and Motor Vehicle Record Check Criteria)Ability to pass a background check screening in accordance with Florida’s Jessica Lunsford Act (or equivalent state classification)State of Florida Standard Building Inspector License is requiredAbility to read & write, including interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as the ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clientsComputer skills sufficient to operate a laptop, including sending and receiving emails, and the ability to learn Field Data Collection (FDC)/Inspector Gadget to input data and prepare reportsMathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram formQualifications for Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, commercial building, and/or 1+2 Family dwellingPrevious experience in building inspection or construction quality controlStrong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standardsExcellent communication and people skillsAbility to work independently and in a teamFlexible with changing schedules and business needsCommitment to safety and adherence to company policiesRequired to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel;
