Headquartered in San Francisco, Dignity Health is dedicated to compassionate, high-quality care, especially for the underserved.Position Summary:Responsible for determining WIC eligibility, providing nutrition and breastfeeding education and providing resource referrals for WIC clients in accordance with State and Federal guidelines. Assists with overseeing, training and auditing the WIC CPAs, Peer Counselors and Clerks.Wellness & Outreach CentersThe Dignity Health Wellness and Outreach Centers have embraced men and women of all ages since 1998, encouraging them in their roles as fathers and mothers, sons and daughters, caregivers and friends. These Outreach Centers offer over 4,000 classes every year reaching 80,000 residents with programs that cover the following topics:Evidence-Based Disease Management & Prevention Programs: Chronic Pain Self-Management, Diabetes Prevention Program, Prediabetes Programs, Stepping On: Fall Prevention, Powerful Tools for Caregivers, Enhance Fitness (an exercise group program that helps older adults at all levels of fitness), asthma, CHAMP (Congestive Heart Active Management Program)Prevention: fitness, nutrition, wellness, smoking cessation, meditationPregnancy & Childbirth, Family Education & BreastfeedingSupport Groups& Senior Peer CounselingWIC(Women, Infants & Children) ProgramMinimum:A work history demonstrating attendance and punctuality.Demonstrated skill and aptitude in detail management and customer relations.Computer experience required.High School Diploma/GEDAbility to multi-task, prioritize and follow-up in a fast-paced work environment.Excellent oral and written communication.Strong awareness, understanding and empathy of cultural issues.Sensitive to the needs and situations of a multi- cultural, low-income population and a desire to work with this population.Ability to work non-traditional days and hours, as required.Must complete the following courses and obtain certifications within three years of hire: 1) Nevada State WIC Certified Professional Authority course, exam and certificate, 2) Certified Lactation Counselor/Educator course and certificate.Preferred Qualifications:Social service, public health or medical field highly desirable.Some college preferred.Bilingual (Spanish/English)
