Wood Finisher PAY-$18-$20 Job Description We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Wood Finisher to join our manufacturing team. This role involves preparing, staining, and painting wood components used in mattress foundations and frames. The ideal candidate will have experience in wood finishing techniques and a strong commitment to quality and craftsmanship. Responsibilities + Prepare wood surfaces by sanding, cleaning, and inspecting for defects. + Apply stains, paints, or sealants according to product specifications and customer requirements. + Mix and match colors and finishes to achieve desired results. + Operate finishing equipment such as spray guns, brushes, and sanding tools. + Ensure all finished components meet quality standards and production timelines. + Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of finishing materials. + Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate protective equipment. + Collaborate with production and quality control teams to resolve issues and improve processes. Essential Skills + Minimum of 1-year experience working with wood or building materials for paint or stain preparation. + Basic knowledge of how to prep surfaces for paint and stain applications. + Strong attention to detail. + Painting, woodwork, staining, finishing, sanding, woodworking, cabinet building, assembly, paint prep, sanding, and polishing. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Prior experience in wood finishing, painting, or carpentry preferred. + Ability to read and interpret work orders and finish specifications. + Strong manual dexterity. + Familiarity with finishing tools and techniques. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team. + Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Work Environment The work takes place in a manufacturing floor setting with exposure to noise from sewing and quilting machines. It is a physically demanding role involving standing for long periods, bending, and lifting heavy materials. The environment is fast-paced with strict safety and quality standards and may involve working near automated quilting or border machines. Temperature may vary depending on facility conditions. Candidates are required to wear steel toe boots, jeans or work pants, and either short or long sleeve t-shirts. Additional personal protective equipment will be provided and must be worn at all times. The shift schedule is Monday to Thursday, 7:00 am - 5:30 pm, with overtime available on Friday from 7:00 am - 12:00 pm or 5:30 pm. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Guilderland Center, New York. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
